E150 ABS ECU location

My ECU is bad on my ABS and I'm not sure which component this is, can someone tell me where it is located on a 1996 E150? I have a bracket attached to the fuel filter with a large box on it and believe that is the ECU for my ABS can anyone confirm this? no #'s are visable.

That is the ECU/module for the ABS at that location. This rarely is defective. Burning up front brakes?/ light on? Usually is the ABS pump. Pinpoint charts not very helpful. HTH

Yes to both ( I guess) I drive about 50,000 miles a year and am going through 1 set of ceramic brake pads every 9-12 months although I do keep the van loaded. but it takes several years to wear the back set out. yes light on not always but usually every drive it comes on at some point then stays on. Ford diagnosed it as ECU unit but didn't have part. I had a trip so I just took van and brought it back 3 months later, at that point they wouldn't replace the ECU (even though they had the records that they had diagnosed it as such previously) they wanted to do another Diagnostics before replacing it. Of course at my expense. so I decided the heck with it, if it's the ECU I would replace it myself.

The Pump
I understand that's not consumer replaceable ( needs special tool to bleed?) or is the pump seperate from the ABS distribution module? (the electric motor attached to the box) can it be replaced seperatly?

Been busy sorry. Don't know if your still fighting this. Its all one unit pump/modulator valves. I do it like this.
1. keep master full at all times.
2. pull all lines and electrical
3. keep master full, so work fast 3 bolts no big deal
4. pull hydralic control unit
5. assemble bracket off old onto new unit
6. keep master full
7. install unit in frame, now listen
8. install front lines into unit about half way(this is filling the front side and gravity pushing the air out)
9. keep master full lol
10. install rear lines half way(so they are always leaking also. like the front lines)
11. install electric connector
12. now tighten front lines
13. let bleed another minute. now tighten the rear lines...
About 75% of the time don't need anymore bleeding. If you do still have air then get helper and just bleed ABS Hydralic Control Unit at 3 rear lines. Ship. The unit is about $550 at dealer and $650 at parts store. Seems backwards. Good luck!

I have a 94 E-150 (Club Wagon Chateau) in otherwise excellent cdx, with 108K miles. ABS light is on. Brakes (other than ABS function) work fine. Local Ford dealer charged $95 to check ABS diagnostic codes. he told me that results not definitive and that any of the components could be defective. He estimated cost to repair up to $1700, to replace each of the major modules. $1700 not feasible. Any suggestions for how to proceed to repair? I can do much of the work.

I suspect the abs module is located in the right front pass. area and you must remove the kick panel near the foot area, if it is not there then look upward under the dash.

how do you tell if the module is bad?? with a ohm m/ volt meter?? i am also having a problem with my abs.. the light flashes and i am not able to shift into drive from park. i have to unlock the shifter to nuetral, start, then shift it to drive... anyone have any clues??
i checked my break light switch with a ohm meter.. seems to be working.. 4 volts are coming to my break peddle switch?? i bridged the adapter that goes to the switch but still no luck..

I also have a 94 Chateau with same problem. I have determined that the case is damaged on the ABS Module. Just bought a new Module on Ebay. Will let you know if this is successfull.
