tach problems

hey
i just installed an after macket tach in my 94 civic but theres a problem
on accident i was driving and the tach red about 4500 rpm and the rev limiter kicked in now i think that bc the tach is not reading right. any help on how to fix this would be grealtly apreciated!!

Was this the first time you were driving on it with the new tach? Have you went past 4500 rpm with the new tach installed before this?

i had just installed it the tach and it was my first run with it and my car is adx so it didnt come wiht a factory tach

thanxs i fix taht problem but now its like idleing him as shit like 5000 idk if going into teh rpm diagnostic wire will help im gona try

:confused: I can't understand what you are saying...

Read my response in the thread that's in the link above, that should show you how to wire it correctly. Sounds like either you have it wired wrong, you don't really have it set to 4cyl inside the tach, or your tach is just bad. Check the first 2 because I doubt the tach is bad.

aight i hooked up the tach like the instructions said and i set it to 4 cly like the instructions said. i hooked the green wire to the blue wire behind teh cluster like everyone says but now it says it idles too high i think im gona try to go to the distributor (-) wire maybe it ill work

Did you make sure it's the correct blue wire? Should be on the left hand side LARGE harness. Before trying the distributer, try the RPM diagnostic wire that's blue and ends to a clip over the driver's side shock tower.
