95 aurora electrical power will not shut off with key off

My 95 aurora will not power off when the key is in the off position. Prior to this happening I got a "service engine soon" error message on the dash, my traction contol on indicator remains on now when the car is started as well. It appears to be back feeding to the dash somehow, had the ignigtion switch out and the power still remained on. Does anyone have any ideas on the fault?

Are you referring to the engine not shutting off or the accessory power not shutting off. If you are referring the the accessory power, it does not shut off right away when you shut the ignition off and pull the key out. It either shuts off after 10 minutes or when you open a door, that's a feature on the Aurora.

Actually what is happening is that the power to the dash stays on continuously with the key out until battery drains, I have had to disconnect the ground at the battery under the rear seat to kill power to the dash, I pulled the ignition switch out and power still remains on. Something appears to be backfeeding to the dash. unable to go any further as I thought iit would be the ignition switch. This is like looking for a needle in the perverbial hay stack. ????????????

I have a similiar problem. When I turn the key off and remove it, everything acts normal, however the a/c fan blows till it drains the battery. The only fix so far is to remove the blower fuse, which mean no a/c fan. Any ideas?

Is it just the dash/blower or do you have other accessories that remain opperative as well?

Hi hope this may help, I eventually discovered the cause of my problem. Under the front seat there is a modual and connector block for a number of feeds to to the dash. In my case there was obviously an electrical short of some sort as the modual casing was melted, replacement cost of the modual was over $700 cdn so I passed on it and looked closer at the connector block which sits in a depression under the seat. It looks like it had been corroded very badly (water, salt ???) who knows except that it was showing non contact for some of the feeds. I removed the block completely and connected all the wires directly bypassing the block. Not only did this correct the problem but I now have heat to the drivers seat that I never had since I purchased the car. I am embarrased to tell how much I have given to the local dealer in trying to locate various electrical problems over the years. The last attempt to find the nag of the drivers seat moving forward at speeds over 100k/h meant sending the vehicle to a GM tech centre which I fortunately passed on. I later by chance discovered a broken wire in the door harness which made contact by speed vibration at 100-105 k/h. The dealer wanted to put in a relay modual at a cost of $1500cdn,glad I passed.
