My friend has an automatic sentra im not sure what kind but its in between 91-94 year model. I think its an SE-R. Im not quite sure what he has in it i think nothing but like an intake and exhaust. I have an (at) gs. and the only think i got in is just a aem cold air. Do i have a chance? or should i just forget about it and dont get emberrased?

The Nissan Sentra SE-R drags ~2500lbs with 140 horses from its NA DOHC engine.

It's lighter and has the same horses. Both FWD. Both AT's.

I'm gonna say Sentra.

Just race him man. Ive beaten lots of cars i thought would own me, and got owned by cars that i thought would be slow as F%#$

Hold up i just found out its a 4 door and i dont think the 4 doors are SE-R. does that make a difference?. i think they got a 1.6.

Tell you the truth, I have no idea off the top of my head. I imagine it's slightly heavier and probably with less horses.

Do some research, or race him and find out.

I want to find out but if i do he would want to do it for money or something else. I really dont want to take the risk. So im trying to find out the most i can before id at least make me have chance.

Yes you are right the 4 doors couldnt be an SE-R and if it is a 4 I would say race him. But if it is the 2 door SE-R dont cuz your toast. Imagine a civic with your engine in it. Here are some specs I pulled off consumer guide.com

All Sentra models with the exception of the 2-door SE-R are equipped with a new dual-cam, 16-valve version of the previous Sentra's 1.6-liter 4-cylinder, which benefits further from sequential multipoint fuel injection. With 20 more horsepower now on tap, the powertrain for most Sentras provide 100 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 108 pound-feet of torque at 4000 rpm. The lone exception is the delightful little 2-door SE-R, which Nissan was nice enough to equip with the Infiniti G20's spunky 2.0-liter engine. When slotted under the Sentra coupe's hood it provides 140 horsepower at 6400 rpm and 132 pound-feet of torque at 4800 rpm. At introduction, E models came with a 4-speed manual transmission standard and an optional 3-speed automatic. Meanwhile, the other trim levels offered either a standard 5-speed manual or optional 4-speed automatic gearbox. By 1993, the E models joined the rest of the Sentra line in offering the 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic.

I think there is a little more info on them like i think weighs about 2200 pounds but thats pretty much it. I hope this helps.

You are smart not to want to race blind. Don't race someone for money if you don't know what's under the hood. Unless you are AWD turbo

i once drove a sentra se-r [91] and i would race around everywhere [it was a beater car called the 'rave-mobile']. on the freeway it was quick, but on the street it wasn't that great. i also had a friend that had a 95 GS and he would smoke me all the time. all he had was intake and exaust, and that's all i had too. it always comes down to 'just race him.' i think you would get him because it is a 4 door model. besides, i don't think a sentra would stand up against a DSM anyways...

how can there be people in the world that race for money and still ask questions like 'who will win'

AcesHigh

Beginners; we all start somewhere, I guess.

yeah, but being a beginner at racing myself, (assuming i knew less about other cars, im fanatical) i wouldn't race for money, i'd go learn if i saw a car i didnt know. im weary of asking beginner questions on forums when the info is readily available from google. search for the horsepower and/or opinions on SE-R to see about that. Now, I rarely see a car on the road that I can't immediately recognize.. and the only brands I don't know the line-up for are all foreign (fiat pugeot etc.. )

Joe, you're right. The internet is a vast resource that many people simple neglect to use before asking a question. The sad part is it takes seconds to find an answer.

Oh my god!!!!!!!!! I fucken crashed!!!!!!!! not a big wreck but i dented my fender!!!!!!. I won though. I took off on him. On the freeway it was no contest.on the freeway I just owned him starting from 60 we raced about a mile to the first exit. it was kind of hard to stop. there was nobody on the freeway. then on the road he kind of took off on me but i caught up in the quickness when i got to high rpms. then out of no where there was this pothole and i was about car length in front of him and made me get out of control like at 65mph i took a business garbage can. lol and scraped my fender and my light even more on some fence but i had slowed down by then. ahhhhh now i got to call my insurance good thing i got full coverege. damn oh well i felt stupid but i still won hahahaha. yea u guys probably think im stupid. and no im not a rich noob just cuz im 16 doesnt mean i dont know a thing or two and yea i work and pay for my stuff but my dad payed for half of my car. thanx for everything.

just cuz im 16 doesnt mean i dont know a thing or two

You'd be really smart if you realized you know very little. 16 year olds think they are hot shit... maybe crashing will teach you a lesson. what are you harnessing there.. 110whp? Hate to see what happens with real power. Rediculous

I wasn't terribly nice to my first car (96 neon), but it didn't break and I sure won't pull any of the stupid crap I tried back then..

pulled ebrake and floored it.. but it couldnt break traction and just dragged rear tires.

dropped it into Drive to try to spin the tires, but it just chirped and then started moving...

stupid neons, i only had a sohc one, but it lacked balls, i tried to pass someone up a hill once (big mistake) I could BARELY out accelerate this granny driving a subaru wagon.

first ride was a 85 toyota p/u with a brand new sr-22 engine. i was stopped to turn left and a pregnant lady was paying attention to the 5 yr old jumping in the passenger seat and it me head on. we were all ok, it was in a residential area, so to too fast, but it was 2 weeks after i got 100% on my drive test. then i got a '68 F-250. frickin monster...

I almost crashed today, my fault too.. but it was an unlikely situation

there was a left-on-green person crossed me, so i thoght he had the arrow.. turns out he didnt have an arrow, and since i was waiting for him i forgot to look left when i did right-on-red, and the guy had to change lanes really fast to avoid hitting my rear end. oops?
