97 - auto - gas mileage ?truth 02-10-2004, 02:38 AM Hoping someone out there can tell me what mileage I should expect from my 1997 Elantra I just bought. I drive 80 mi round trip for work. I got rid of an 89 Honda Civic that was getting 36mpg. I expected at least 32 but the first two times I checked I am only getting 29 mpg. A back problem forced me to go from stick to Auto and it was a super deal but now I am wondering. If this is normal .... is there anything I can do to improve mileage? Thanks for any suggestions..... :) old 300 09-06-2004, 10:44 PM Its funny I checked ours today after a long highway drive. 47mpg/canadian---38mpg/u.s. nippjas 09-09-2004, 02:37 PM I posted a 3 month avg fuel economy snapshot.
