I tried fixing up a 3.8 tbird last year i ended up going for looks due to the fact the 3.8 is so hard to get performance out of but ya the bigger mass air flow will help out alot but becareful who you get it from I would go with name brand on this one and I'm a poor eighteen year old but the mafs isnt something to play with.

You CANNOT properly replace a MAF with a larger one without getting a chip to correct the tables in the EEC for the new MAF.

Will it run without a chip? Probabally. Right? Never.

Ford MAFs are about the best quality there is, they are VERY consistant, and the "'99 GT" MAFs are about the best upgrade for the $$. Used is perfectly OK if they will gaurantee the part is good.

You DO NOT want to go too large, you will lose sensativity at light throttle. This will hurt performance AND economy.

Hi,
My son's 94 T-bird was running a little rough and the engine light was coming on. Codes were for lean O2.
Cleaned the MAF with rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip. Car runs great!! Like new again and no engine light and gas milage went too.
