Oil leak--88 camryben992 02-09-2004, 11:54 AM I just bought a 88 Camry the other day on eBay. They disclosed that it had a bad oil leak. Turns out it was the valve cover gasket. It is fixed now. It is leaking in some other areas it seems also. Are there any known problems with leaks on the 2.0 L 4 cylinder??? The only other thing I can think to change is the oil pan gasket and the rear main. You guys got any other ideas? The car only has 146,000 miles. Thanks, Ben Joe W 02-09-2004, 07:24 PM The oil pressure sending unit is a common culprit. ben992 02-10-2004, 07:37 AM Thanks. I didn't even think of that. There are only a couple places I could think that it would leak--the valve cover which has been replaced and the oil pan gasket and rear main. I will check out the oil pressure sending unit. It only leaks while it is running and right after it is shut off. Ben ProMan 02-11-2004, 12:35 AM Where is the leaking area? Front? Rear? Right? Left?Oil pan and rear main only cause leaks below the engine. Valve cover, distributor, cam, and head gasket leak from upper engine. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
