Possible Alternator/Voltage Regulator Problem? Your Semi-pro Advice is Appreciated!paycutCEO 02-08-2004, 09:22 PM mtdxx posted- "Had alternator problems with it (which i was told here is common with these cars), the alternator ended up damaging the radio and air bag system. I also went through several head lights before i found out the problem" I have the exact same isht occuring. The mechanic clapped a voltage meter on it when it surged- it hit 18+! The cereal box surprise this past time my fiance popped open the hood was our new $75 dollar Interstate battery, squirting battery acid upwards to the surrounding area- underhood, battery itself, and parts circa- probably when surging. On some other board I heard that replacing the voltage regulator, may not always remedy the issue. -So before I plunk $300 plus on a new alternator, I'd like to hear from other sufferers of this affliction. da_moose 08-30-2005, 12:13 PM I've had the same problem, go to hmaservice.com the only remedy for this problem is to change the alternator. I'm pretty sure the voltage regulator is the problem but i believe (correct me if i'm wrong) it is an internal regulator and thus cannot be changed (or at least not worth it). Hope this helps. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
