Help me identify if this truck is 4WD/V6 or not...

It's a '99ish black stepside Ranger, standard cab. It says "Sport" on the back. I'm looking into buying it (as my first car, I'm 15½ now) if it's V6 and 4WD, since winters up in northern Ohio suck and roads are terrible. I'd pass for something else though if it's an I4 and RWD, I really want something a little quicker and better handling as my first car than that.

So basically...."Sport" on back = V6, 4WD or I4, RWD?

sport doesn't necessarily imply anything about what the drivetrain is like....i think 'sport' is just a trim package name (like XLT). you'd have to pop the hood to see how many cylinders it is, and than look at the gauge or floor to see if there is a 4x4 selector knob/shifter

Alright, thanks. I haven't gotten a close up look at it yet, I plan to sometimes this week.

You'll need your VIN#, it'll tell you all the information you'll ever need about your truck. :smokin:

Sport is a trim package. The Ranger Sport has no chrome anywhere on the truck and it has aluminum wheels. The grill and bumpers are the same color as the body.

look underneath for driveshafts going to the front of the truck to check for 4x4. that's if you don' get to ask the guy about it.
