Mine's a 1996.
The process I documented is the same for 1995, and 1997 as well. Newer models ??? Conti's ??? Mark's ???

Pivot your TC mirror backward, do you see a partially rusted or completely rusted mount bolt ???

How I replaced that defective bolt (http://www24.brinkster.com/sdhartney/linc/1996TownCarSideMirror.html)

That would also apply to 1990-1994 TCs as they are mounted in the same manner as the 95-97s. The only difference is they are smaller which I prefer.

I bought my 95 last year with only 33k on the clock which resided in the Bay State for it's entire life and the bolts still look new.

That's good to know, that FoMoCo did some right!!

I've talked to several guys with 96 & 97's with that same problem. That bolt "well" stays filled with water, and eventually the bolt treatment fails.

Hey itdltc....
The earlier years, "the only difference is their smaller...." did they also have Heated glass, Memory setting, Autodimming, and the glass is seperately replacable in case some nice guy breaks it out you don't have to replace the whole mirror assembly.

Just curious how far back Ford used these features.

BTW, nice deal on the 1995 :smokin:

I got my 96 with 33k on it from an estate sale in Sacramento. The kids said it was Mom's car, she took it to the markets about three times a week and kept it in the garage.

Well the 1990-1994s only had the heated mirror. No Memory settings or autodimming mirror on the drivers side. The only memory setting they had was the drivers seat.

I prefer the 1990-1994s over the 95-97s. I only bought the 95 because my 92 Cartier was falling apart. If I don't keep this one I'll try to find a nice 94. If that doesn't happen then I'll move away from the platform.

P.S. it's Ltdltc not itdltc
