Good Deal?Amish_kid 02-04-2004, 09:49 PM Ok here's what I found a 89-92 240sx fastback...230km's and only wanting 2k for it, my father knows the person who is selling it the interior is pretty good no wear in the passenger side bucket and bolster on driver's side it kinda mangled but not ripped, needs just a little body work from what I can see. Anyone know if this is a good deal or not...BTW I'm in Canada so that makes a difference. vsiev 02-05-2004, 01:20 AM 2k in us dollars or is that canadian and if it is how much is that in us dollars. And taht is about 140k miles right? Amish_kid 02-05-2004, 06:49 AM It roughly 1500 American and 150miles on it. TheLogikal1 02-05-2004, 11:00 AM check the frame, you canadians make crappy frame laws, check brians post about what happened to him, let it be a lesson. sometimes paying more is better vsiev 02-05-2004, 01:20 PM yea take it to a mechanic and it seems to be a good deal if nothing is wrong with it and you can drive it away with no problems. Amish_kid 02-05-2004, 04:28 PM yea take it to a mechanic and it seems to be a good deal if nothing is wrong with it and you can drive it away with no problems. Best thing about this is my dad is a mechanic and won't let me get a POS that'll give me problems. TheLogikal1 02-05-2004, 07:16 PM so why are you considering a 240sx? 240sx is one of the bigest p.o.s. imports in america. it breaks own alot. i mean, why do you think theyre all around 5k or less? then people rip on integras and civics and we all know that honda cars are worth more and more reliable too. Amish_kid 02-05-2004, 09:20 PM B/c I want something I can tinker with myself and it's rwd, and no I don't want to be a MaDd TyTe DrIftAr!!!1! TheLogikal1 02-05-2004, 09:41 PM get a mustang. you canlearn on it good. its rwd. youll be problem free...well atleast more so than a 240sx plus its faster Amish_kid 02-05-2004, 10:05 PM Is it b/c I rarely post here that you must assume I'm just jumping on "the bandwagon" ? And Mustang problem free...sorry but those 2 words don't fit in the same line. And also what do you mean by "learn"? I've been driving since I was probably 15 and I'm 19 do the math. I'm not another kid here, I'm looking for a car I can work on myself when I become a mechanic within the next 2 years. vsiev 02-06-2004, 01:06 AM i hear mustangs got a huge tranny problem that they die out in like 3-5 years....new cars too... Fliquer 02-06-2004, 01:22 AM I wouldnt say its a particularly good deal, but it does seem reasonable. $1500 is what I would expect to pay for a car with that milage and no major problems, good interior and good exterior. If you like the car and are willing to meet that price, go for it. mxdmod 02-06-2004, 02:32 AM I would pay less.. i got my car mint condition ..whcih means interior no wear and tear engine 160k on it.. for around 1500 .. but anyway.. make sure you CHECK FOR UNDERBODY RUST ~!~! let me say taht again UNDERBODY RUST!@~!~ Amish_kid 02-06-2004, 06:43 AM I would pay less.. i got my car mint condition ..whcih means interior no wear and tear engine 160k on it.. for around 1500 .. but anyway.. make sure you CHECK FOR UNDERBODY RUST ~!~! let me say taht again UNDERBODY RUST!@~!~ Yeah well I do realize that there will be rust unless it was undercoated religously, and I do have a big 4 post lift for me to use so there probably won't be much I'd miss when I go to look at it. Thanks all for the info! :) publicenemy137 02-06-2004, 11:51 AM mustang problem free?? ford problem free??? More problem free than a 240sx? I don't think so, Mustangs sell like crazy, and back in the day I used to see the older style mustangs all the time. Now I don't, maybe b/c most of em are pos which break down?? I dunno where people get 240s are so unreliable. JD power and associates gave 240sx a mechanical reliability of 4 out of 5, which stands for better than most. Consumers say the reliabitility is great, that even the SOHC last for a long ass time. 240sx owners all give high praise to the car. Mustangs on the other hand are a mixed bag. Some love it, but when they run into problems, they say it's a b!tch to fix. JD power gave the stang a reliability rating of 2 out of 5 mustang owners give this car an average of 8.3 out of ten, here is what they say about it (http://www.edmunds.com/used/2001/ford/mustang/100001045/ratings_consumer.html?tid=edmunds.u.prices.vdphead er.ratingsbox.1.Ford*) keep in mind this is a car that's only 3 years old also The KA may not be a bullet-proof engine like the VQ series, but it seems a lot of people think they're reliable cept for the few people in the AF boards. 240sx got a 9.2 out of 10: (1995 version) comments (http://www.edmunds.com/used/1995/nissan/240sx/11041/ratings_consumer.html?tid=edmunds.u.prices.vdphead er.ratingsbox.1.Nissan*) TheLogikal1 02-06-2004, 04:51 PM illl give the 240sx a 2 out of 10. fuck jd power and associates, that was when t was still new. my s14 is around 9 nine years old and 130+k miles. it is no longer relaible vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
