Swaps!BIGTYM3R 02-03-2004, 09:05 PM I just bought a 93 240..and i want some input on which swap would give me the most hp for my money....ive heard good things about the sr20.......and am very interested in doing a complete silvia front end conversion!.....please let me know what you think....thnx nissan240sxdude 02-03-2004, 09:10 PM I would have to agree with the SR20DET engine swap considering I want one my self. It has great bang for you buck, weight distribution, and has plenty of aftermarket parts. Also the RB series engines are to much and seriously who needs 600 horse power (with mods) anyway??? Unless if you drag race. -nissan240sxdude publicenemy137 02-03-2004, 09:27 PM use the search button if you want more elaborate info, you'll get all the info you need using the search function. But I think RB, SR, KA-T are all rip-offs. Why not build your own jet engine (http://www.aardvark.co.nz/pjet/) and put that into your 240!!! A good project :evillol: :naughty: :smokin: :cwm27: :uhoh: :eek7: vsiev 02-03-2004, 09:33 PM also it depends on what you going to do with the car. Also remember it is your money and your time so make a decision and stick with it, don't let people change your mind. mynismo 02-03-2004, 09:49 PM or you can join the maxima world.... save the 3000 for the swap and just buy a maxima. hell i got mine for 2300. im adding not even $700... and im going to run a consistant 14.5. just about the exact 1/4mi as an sr20, if not better. then i have another 2 grand to put in for the cost that you bought you 240. woohoo, me in mid 13's (or high 12's if i go for a cheap turbo) and you just have a stock 14.5 ;) publicenemy137 02-03-2004, 11:29 PM Maxima's are fast but I don't like em. Their handling sux, it feels like it tilts too much. Also what are you putting for only $700 that's making it run mid 14's? And Maximas that are in good condition usually cost around 5-7 k for ones with higher miles. Don't get me wrong they're good cars, my parents have one and I drive it sometimes, but the 240 is way more fun to drive. It's sportier, RWD, and handles way better. The Maxima to me feels unsafe b/c of it's handling Suislide 02-04-2004, 12:03 AM please consult the FAQ for common questions like these. and he's already bought the car mark...this is the 240SX forum. he came here for advice on a 240SX... :) :iceslolan mynismo 02-04-2004, 04:24 PM Maxima's are fast but I don't like em. The Maxima to me feels unsafe b/c of it's handling get a stickshift and then talk about it. i drove an auto... it was like a completely different car. i hated it. go get a stickshift, its one of the best cars to sit in and is a complete blast to drive. the sticks are way faster too... im doing: warpspeed ypipe, warpspeed bpipe, 2.5" exhaust piping, hi flow cat, intake, pacesetter short shifter. actually total cost is around $600. i got the exhaust from http://www.warpspeedperformance.com, sts from http://performance.speedycarparts.com and muffler/intake off ebay. and the 240sx does not handle better.. the maxima handles WAY more better than the 240 does stock. cornering is GREAT. i had a 240 and maxima... maxima is definately my pick. unsafe? heh. the maxima isn't the one without the air bags. and who needs a good condition max... get a used one with high miles. mine has 142k and runs like new. plus no one likes the sticks so they are easy to get even cheaper. mine was 2300. plus your going to spend 4 grand on an sr20..... why not just get a maxima? :iceslolan here's a guy with just ypipe and intake with a 14.63 1/4mi http://www.cardomain.com/id/luckee2bhere he spent $250... im planning on hitting about a 14.3-14.4. it does a 14.9 stock. please consult the FAQ for common questions like these. and he's already bought the car mark...this is the 240SX forum. he came here for advice on a 240SX... :) :iceslolan sell it :p spread the maxima word. i had 4 cars over 2.5mo.. i didn't like any of them but this one. sorry have to spread the good word about maximas. they are the best, most fun car to drive thats cheap and its VERY VERY FAST!!! i'll be blowing away sr20's in about 3 days. BIGTYM3R 02-04-2004, 10:05 PM thnx anybody know where to pick up an sr20 cheap in Canada...im also looking for a front end conversion(fenders, bumber, grill, lights) Off a s15...or even a crated front end encluding engine!... BIGTYM3R 02-04-2004, 10:09 PM how hard would it be to throw in a black top sr20 from s15 with 6spd..??..that was my plan from the start and i can pick one up for $3200 american publicenemy137 02-04-2004, 10:36 PM and the 240sx does not handle better.. the maxima handles WAY more better than the 240 does stock. cornering is GREAT. i had a 240 and maxima... maxima is definately my pick. unsafe? heh. the maxima isn't the one without the air bags. I don't know what you're talking about, 240's handle way way better than Maxima's stock. :uhoh: :screwy: RWD versus FWD, and Maxima's handle like poo. Did you redo the suspension??? Maxima's are known to not handle very well. My parents said I could have it, but I didn't think it was a fun car to drive at all. Sure it's fast in a straight line, but cornering wise it tilts if you go too fast. I've heard this from other Maxima owners as well, not just me and my parents. And about the airbags, I got the 95's where it came standard. Anyone else drive a Maxima and agree? Soyo 02-07-2004, 10:58 PM MAXIMAS SUCK!!! you can make anycar fast, I don't care how fast your maxima is, if your running 12's I don't care, don't try saying its handling is better than a 240sx, thats retarded everyone knows that, maximas handle like my moms buick, and last time I checked falling into the other seat going around a corner doign 25 isn' good handling... I know 2 people with maximas, one has a 98 the other has a 99. the 98 is a auto and is not that fast, the 99 is stick and runs 14's stock, but they both handle worse than your mom handles my balls, and I'm sure just about everyone knows how bad she is. now stop talking stupid please :) publicenemy137 02-08-2004, 01:41 AM ^ maxima's don't suck, that if you got a family to lug around. Other than that, I would not want one. Turning 25 mph you will still feel like you're goin to turn over I drive both cars all the time and I can definetly say 240sx's can handle 20 times better than a Maxima indefinetly. mynismo, you saying the maximas can outhandle a 240sx stock just shattered any credibiility you just had. Maxima's are quick, I know that, but a handling-monster it's not. It's fine that you like Maxima's, they are great cars, spacious interior and VQ engine's are no joke, but to lie about it and say that they are the messiah of cars is wrong :nono: stealthj 02-08-2004, 07:10 AM my friend had a max and he was always cruising at like 140MPH, those thing are cool :) till he took a turn too fast and couldent make it i was right behinmd him and i made it through he hit a parked car, i had stock susp. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/62872AF-med.jpg max's DO NOT handle better than 240's publicenemy137 02-08-2004, 12:48 PM ^ ouch was your friend hurt? Suislide 02-08-2004, 01:06 PM Back On Topic Please! And about the 240 versus the Max, someone start another thread about it or something, just not here. stealthj 02-08-2004, 05:09 PM ^ ouch was your friend hurt? nah, just airbag shit, nothin broken vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
