I just bought a 1991 z34 with 91k miles on it. I've done nothing to it yet. I'm assuming i needs a tune up. I haven't driven it anywhere yet because i noticed it boughs out at 3000 rmps just reving. Is that supposed to happen? If not what could it be? I've heard about these cars having some kind of fuel limiter or something. Also, how do you get the oxygen sensors out of these cars? It seems like working on these cars are impossible because everythhing is so crammed.

ECM has an anti rev function, it won't allow revs over 3,000 in park. its not a problem. Normal

Thanks. I had to find that out the hard way. I took out the air control valve to check it out and when i put it back in, it runs horrible, the alternator light stays on and the check engine light came on. I got a new one but didn't put it in yet. What do u recommed?

The valve needs to be adjusted. I can't remember if it has to be pushed in(gentley) so the ecm can readjust it. If you have a manual it should explain procedure.

OH man you are a life saver. I just put a new control valve in and it runs nice, however the check engine lights and the batt lights is on still. Could that be a problem with the ECM (should i reset it) or is that a separate issue? It didn't have this problem before I tampered with the control valve. Could I have possibly caused some damage?

I,d make sure all your conncetion are plugged in, the check engine light is for pollution control. EGR,MAP,etc. As far as batt light, once in awhile mine stays on, try cleaning the cables, this should reset your ECM at the same time, good luck
