Excessive Gas mileageDurace1 02-02-2004, 10:02 PM Has anyone had a problem with MPG dropping to 16 when their 3.4 liter engine turn 70k? redtoy92 02-05-2004, 05:17 AM time for a tune-up? '03DC3.4TRD4X4 02-05-2004, 08:19 PM I sure would like to have some excessive gas mileage but I am guessing you mean excessively poor. A tune up and some synthetic oil should help. A high quality synthetic atf or gear lube throughout should be good for at least 2 mpg. on the highway. kberger 06-06-2004, 02:29 PM My MPG dropped also on my 3.4 with 75k. I hate to admit that mine is lower than 16MPG. This is my first toyota, just thought that's the way they are. needforspeed 06-06-2004, 08:01 PM Mine sucks and it is 30 days old tacoma man. 06-07-2004, 06:18 PM well mine was getting excellent mileage up until the gas prices went up. i think they are mixing something in with the gas so it burns up quicker. My dad's 2001 hit 100k last week and still getting the same mpg... friends dropped but not until 230k miles... keep the tune ups pretty regular and you shouldnt have a problem at all, same as all cars.
