I'm considering going to 20" wheels vs. the 16" wheels that I now have on my tacoma. What are the pros and cons of moving to the 20" wheel? If any?

i would never put 20 inch rims on my truck. if you do that you will have to put 20 inch tires with very little sidewall. the sidewall of the tires absorbs alot of the road bumbs and shock. you will feel every bump and crack in the road. the advantage of 20 inch rims is shorter braking distances and better steering response. i would only move up an inch in wheels if i was looking for more wheel than tire. hope i helped you out

going to "20s might not actually improve braking distances-- since you have a smaller contact patch-- less rubber on the road means less friction available for deceleration. I would suspect on a stock truck, somewhere between 17 and 18 inches would provide best overall handling and stopping. Without a load in the bed (at least 300lbs. like a dirtbike and gear) the 20s would deliver a harsh ride. Now running 20s and a 35 in tire on a lifted truck would yield a nice ride and decent handling over, say, the same overall size tire on 15 or 16 inch wheels. If you actually go offroad, I would go no larger than 15 or 16 inch wheels for maximum traction and tire flex. Plus it would be virtually impossible to protect a 20 in wheel in the rocks. What an expensive lesson that day would be.

well it all depends on what you are going to do with your truck, if you are going to drive it around the ghetto, then go with it, and make sure that they are really shiny. if you are going to off road it, like it is meant to be, then you better be running like 40" tires. if you are going any thing less, then stick with 15 or 16's.
