Water Pump Cam Pulley

Has anyone replaced this part? What does it take to do it?

Yes, I need to replace this cam pulley for the water pump.
Does anyone know if it is pressed on or threaded? And how to take it off.

Yes, I have replaced this pulley and it is pressed on to the end of the cam. This will need to be pulled off by using a three or four jaw type puller, however be very careful as the end of the cam sticks a fair distance out from the head and will break if you are not careful. I believe the cost was $80.00 or so for the part.

I pulled it off using a bearing separator and my puller. It came off pretty easy. The cost of the new pulley is $29.99 from the dealer. However, I don't see how you could break the end of the cam off hockeydude. Thanks.

Well, obviously you haven't seen it all because I have done around 40 to 50 of these in my shop and I have seen back yard people that think they are mechanics break the cam. I was only warning people that the cam does stick out a fair distance from the head with no support and can break off if you are not careful on how to remove the pulley. I guess you are one of those back yard professionals.

No problem just rubbed me the wrong way as I have been a Automotive Tech for 20 plus years, however I no longer do it for a living. I love to work on cars and trucks and always will. I keep up with all up to date seminars just in case I need to do it for a living. There are some people on these pages that think they know but don't. Sorry if I sounded pissed but it is that male ego thing.
