I have a 1993 Ford thunderbird that I am having the motor rebuildt in. I have a friend that has a 1993 that he wants to sell. This car is in excellent shape other than it needs a new oil pump. I know on my car, which is a v-8, 302, 5.0 you have to jack the motor up to replace the oil pump, due to the oil pan being across the fame(i think). Is the v-6 the same way and if not how big of a job is replacing the oil pump, and about how long would it take???? Thanks to anyone that can help

If its the 3.8 V-6 I believe the oil pump is in the front cover. The front of the engine needs to come off, Allow yourself a day to get the job done. I don't recommend a oil pump kit because there are steel gears running in the aluminum front cover-guess what wears out. Double check this info. in a Haynes or Chilton manual, I am not 100% sure

You will have to pull the engine for either car to replace the oil pump. It is much easier that trying to drop the K-member out in order to remove the pan.
