I just bought a 1996 GMC Sierra 1500. I read in the GM specs that the engine coolant heater (block heater) came standard that year, but I can't find it. Can anyone help me locate it?

Thanks.

Should be a cord all coiled up and strapped to the rail on the right side of the engine looking at it from the front, just look down between the rad and engine it should be there, thats where it is on mine.

yes, look on the driver side frame rail, between the radiator and the wheel well.

If there is no cord the heater is located on the side of the block (drivers) just above the oil filter

Is that the only year that it came standard??

it could be standard on all years depending where the engine is from. In canada just about every vehicle has a cold climate package installed I'm sure its the same in northern states as well.
