have a 94 estate wagon with problem with clima control. when car heats up i barely get warm air from heater. can set temp to 90 degrees but doesn't help. temperature gauge only goes up about less than mid way. is there a possibility that have wrong thermostat in vehicle or can anyone give me addtl guidance as to what to look for to correct problem. how hard is it to change thermostat on this vehicle. thanks

not sure on yours, stop at the parts store and get a shop book on your
car and see, may be easy ether way you'll know more about what is going on with it even if you don't work on it :smokin:

Have also 1994 Estate wagon w/350. It's leaking coolant (small leak) from rear of engine, w/ no obvious leak from anywhere. Are there freeze plugs/expansion plugs in the rear of the block on this engine? thanks

Yes, there are freeze plugs in the back of the heads. Check the heater lines coming out of the heater core. Mine were leaking there from the factory fitting.

I had a problem with heat also. After a while I happened to find my old thermostat. Lo and behold I noticed it had a large spring and a smaller spring. The part I bought at Murrays only had one spring. I went to dealer and bought the part About $25. After putting it on it worked fine. Very easy to change also, by the way.

Have your antifreeze changed and find a shop that will powerflush the system including your heater core. Sounds like a blocked heater core is preventing the heater from getting hot... It's a good time to have the thermostat changed as well. I have a lower temp Thermostat, 160 degrees, to keep the engine running cooler and have no problem with heat.

Yeap a clogged heater core sounds like the problem to me. A different temp t-stat will have no effect on the heating of the CC. Now if you install a standard SBC T-stat into an LT1 that's a different story. LT1 t-stats are two way while SBC are one way. There's a diff.

And if you have coolant coming out of the back of the engine check the coolant transfer tube at the back of the heads for leaks..
