Bad keys? How do I reset the security system?

Won't start, bad keys?

I just purchased a 2000 Montana and within a few days, it started acting up and wouldn't start. It happened 4 times (I ended up jumping it) and now I haven't been able to start it for 3 days. The battery and starter all test good.

Now I'm learning about the Pass-Key III system and wondering if that's the problem. I have 2 original keys and neither one will work. If I put a key in the ignition and give it one click, the battery light comes on and then the security light, then battery and so on.

I've read how to program additional keys, but what do I do if none of them work? Is my security system locked?

Any advice is appreciated!

Thanks,
Jeremy_O

Hi Jeremy.....I think I'm having the same problem except the starting part.
We have just noticed that the security light comes on when we start our 2000 Montana.
No matter which key we use the light comes on, but not all the time.Sometimes it statrs without the light coming on.
Mentioned this to the GM service manager and he said that one day we try to start it and it would'nt let us.
He mentioned that the whole lock cylinder would have to be replaced along with the security sensor attached as part of the lock cylinder.
Price? 3-$400.00 Can. OUCH!!!
Please let me know how you make out.
thanks Davey
