95 Lumina Wiper Problem – Occasional

I own a 1995 Chevy Lumina APV minivan. Occasionally, when turning on the wipers, they will not start for a few seconds or even a few minutes, and the last time it took a few hours. A costly diagnosis at the dealer revealed nothing, since they worked flawlessly while being tested. Has anyone else had to deal with this problem? :banghead:

I've had the exact problem, you're not alone I also had a friend have the same problem, he said he feels it is a grounding issue he put a extra ground from wiper motor to a good frame ground and says he have not had problem since,I haven't tried this yet but am planning to when weather improves please let me know how you make out if you try this possible solution.

Thanks for the info. I will have to wait until the weather breaks. It only seems to act up when it rains. I can send you an email when we try it.

Hello, I have been down that road myself and grounding the motor worked for about 2 weeks. My problem was in the pulse board. I have read that they are prone to power failure. It is located on the motor itself.

Just out of weird problem with '92 Z34: wiper would not go out of park: just wiggle 2 inches out and in. So took everything out, investigated printed circuit - was AOK, no broken solders problem like other "no park" units like LUMIna APV - managed to make some minor adjustments to the complicated lever arrangement that make it go in and out of park - tested it OK when just plugged to the 2 multicontact plugs, resting on body - then installed the whole thing ---to no avail. TO make a long story a bit shorter, I wired a ground lead from the mechanical wiper harness to ground...and all started working fine.
