91 Spirit "stalling"
MarshaLaw 01-26-2004, 01:52 PM Hey everyone, I'm new and I'm having a problem with my 91 Spirit non-turbo 2.5L 4-cyl. I'll be driving along, everthings fine then my RPMs will drop to zero and the car kind of dies. Sometimes it will come back to life, other times it will actually stall. I have to pull over, and it usually starts back up in about 5-10 minutes. Here is what I have replaced, and problem is still there: Fuel Filter, Ignition coil, plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, O2 sensor. Adjusted timing. Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks! ironman502 01-26-2004, 09:26 PM My 2.2 did about the same thing- died suddenly and then sometimes came back to life. I replaced the pickup coil and it never happened again. I'm sure you're wary of buying new parts after all the money you've put into the car so far, but it's worth a try. Mine was about $35. MarshaLaw 02-03-2004, 07:07 AM I replaced the Pickup coil and MAP Sensor over the weekend. Not too bad. $100 for the parts. Drove it 60 miles Monday and to work (30 miles) today. No problems. Thanks again for your help guys... cblock 01-24-2008, 06:06 PM have a question, does the 92 3.0 v6 spirit have the same setup. i have basicly the same issue. AutomotiveHelper.com, Copyright ©2013
