No Fuel Pressure

My 96 GMC 4x4 5.7 litre has no fuel pressure at the test valve close to the intake. Besides the fuel pump, is there a fuse or relay that may be the culprit? I dont hear the slight buzz of the pump like I use to. I assume its either shot or not getting voltage.

there is a relay, but if you can't hear the pump and there is power at the harness, then the pump is likely dead.
But check for a good ground strap on the tank first.

check the fuel filter. I got the pump replaced on my 98 pickup and they decided to replace the filter too. they put in a cheap one and the pressure from the system pushed all of the components to one end of the filter. I had a huge loss in power. I hope this helps.

try cranking the engine for a while, just enough to move the oil pressure guage for a couple seconds, do you have pressure? The oil pressure switch can energize the fuel pump when it senses about 4 psi

gm fuel pumps are friggen junk i've changed probably at least 20 of them. be sure to replace the filter as mentioned above. i'd say 99% of chevy no-starts are bad fuel pump. heres a little trick try banging on the bottom of the tank with a rubber hammer while a buddy tries to start it sometimes this works but it's not a fix just an easy way to get the trunk in the shop. good luck man

i should mention there is a relay it's located in the power distribution box(fuse) on the drivers side fender you should hear it click then the key's turned on. but i'm almost certain you'll be changing that damn pump
