What car would you suggest for soloI/RR ?nbw 01-25-2004, 07:56 AM What street(legal) car would you suggest for an occasional road racing/solo I and a little aX'ing ? ATM I dont care about what class I would be put in at all really, my only consern is the lap times. "cheap" would be the big key word in this search btw. so plz dont suggest a porscha or z06. I only dream I could afford what insurance would cost let allone the car itself.. :( I am currently aiming for an early MK1 mr2. 2300~lb mid-engine car.. sounds like SO much fun. It does have a lack of hp but an engine swap in the somewhat but not to distant future couldnt fix. meen time a bunch of hp is probly the last thing a n00b like me needs.. lol I know this is an extremely broad question.. but I am looking for some broad opinions. What moderately modified cars do you notice that do well in most tracks. (if all else fails.. feel free to brag about your cars :naughty: ) lol thanks  nbw 05-10-2004, 03:19 AM wow i forgot about about this post. Suprised its still on the 1st page after about 4 or so months :o Any comments/opinions? :smokin: lol MR2Driver 05-10-2004, 10:48 AM The MKI NA is a great choice for AutoX, so would be an older Miata... ac427cpe 05-10-2004, 08:40 PM i have to agree, mk1 mr2, even the mk2 n/a is an awesome autoX car. with the miata you run into track issues: roll bar etc. lol, actually my first thought was to suggest a Z06! a C4 vette would do nicely too, if you want to spend a bit more nbw 05-11-2004, 04:00 AM how do 240sx's do in autoX? really lightweight(2700lb's?), rather torque'y 4banger, and HICAS.. im kinda looking at one of those things now since they seem allot more practicle having 2 rear seats. That and with these ungoddly gas prices makes owning a v8 a little less fun :/ ac427cpe 05-13-2004, 04:04 AM they make better drift cars, but the beauty of autoX is that you race everyone, but your time only counts against those in your class. still say mk1 mr2 s/c nbw 05-13-2004, 04:57 PM drifting... pfft. :disappoin (not my cup of tea) hehe tbh, i dont really care what class im in, I just want a fun car to drive to and threw a solo1/2 event. :) I like the mr2's but they just dont seem practicle for someone who will only be able to have one vehicle. ... then again, I could always just have my freind hall stuff around in his camaro.. lol :p Jabberwocky 05-19-2004, 05:15 AM If cost is a concern, get a small lightweight car. Big tires for cars like a corvette can run a pretty penny. You also want a car with aftermarket support. A miata or mr2 is a good choice. Used parts at low prices aren't that hard to come by either. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
