GST/X vs. Integra GSR vs. RSX-SNayr747 01-22-2004, 08:50 PM I have been getting a LOT of sh*t lately for wanting a DSM. "There unreliable" "they blow up" "u have to replace the internals on ALL cars if you double the horspower, INCLUDING that car" "they weigh way to much to make good times and keep up w/ others." So I want other's opinions, can DSMs (2gB's) compete w/ say an Integra GSR, Type R, RSX, etc. Can an Integra GSR w. the same $ in it keep up w/ a DSM? Will the GSR really be so much more reliable? Chavez408 01-22-2004, 09:19 PM tell them to go fuck themself its not their car its urs and how much u lookin to spend? and for the ppl sayin the eclipse "blows up" tell em to stop watching the fast and the furious... :disappoin GSX88 01-22-2004, 09:20 PM Burn Yo!!! amdsoldier 01-22-2004, 09:27 PM I think my RS can keep up with GSR Tegs, so I'd think a GST/X would rip them a new ass hole. :D boosting20psi 01-22-2004, 09:51 PM well i know from personal experance that a GSX will smoke them both i have raceed those cars. they had more than me done to there cars and i kick there asses so if they think they can best a gsx tell them that all of us dsmers would love to race them JoeWagon 01-22-2004, 10:08 PM www.dsmtimes.org There are full weight DSMs well into 8's. You can run 12's for a couple thousand bucks, and yes, a 92 horsepower honda will be more reliable than a DSM, especially modified for 300+ whp. turbo2nr 01-22-2004, 11:00 PM i seen a stock gsx take a civic with a gsr motor.. common there is you answer right there.. GSX OWWWNNZZZ ALL 1 BoostedSpyder 01-22-2004, 11:12 PM i once saw a civic with one of those wing thingies and a real 'nice' exaust at a light and the next time i saw him i had to look in the rearview mirror. then we pulled over at his request cuz he had all this shit on his ride and wanted to know what i had and he was like 'damn turbo eclipses... :(' and i said 'it's only stock' hee hee hee... i also have a buddy that has a teg gsr and he claims to push 300hp and i smoked him too. replace the stock internals? the 4g63-t [as in turbo] is good to 450hp or so, and with stock at 210hp, i'd say that's double. it's also a fact. and 2g's just look so much cooler. i always look at civ's and teg's cuz i'm lookin for chicks... FourG63 97GST 01-23-2004, 01:24 AM I wanted a GSR too, then i realized the GST has more power. so I went with the GST here's an example of what an eclipse is cabable of: I have 1K in engine mods, I pulled 2 cars on a SRT4 couple minutes ago doing a 2nd and 3rd gear pull. stock the stock a GST is like .3 seconds faster than a GSR not that impressive, but when you start modding modding and thats where the big difference come in. a GSR or Type R with 1K under the hood will get raped by a DSM with 1K under the hood. you can only go so far with those Vtec all motor setups and a DSM can handle about 450hp on stock internals  JoeWagon 01-23-2004, 02:34 AM Reminds me that John S. has 1000 HP under the hood, not dollars mwuahaha Nayr747 01-23-2004, 05:29 AM My God! I did this thread like five hours ago and its already about a page. :O Well this is just what i needed to hear, i was gettin discouraged. [QUOTE=Chavez408]tell them to go fuck themself I think my rear licence plate will do just that (someday) ;) 95eclipse-gsx 01-23-2004, 09:11 AM hey nayr747 can u plz give me the thread or link to it where u read about john sheap plz... thanks in advance :) rysbrnr 01-23-2004, 10:57 AM For a daily driven street car, a Honda will get consistantly humiliated by a turbo DSM. Even Honda's with standard bolt-on turbo kits will get their ass raped...quickly. I've owned all the "popular" Hondas, (EG, EK, 00 Civic Si, and still drive a 01 Type R,) plus I've owned 4 Turbo DSM's and still have one now so my opinion is fair and relatively un-biased. Dollar for dollar in mods, the DSM is almost ALWAYS gonna come out on top in terms of HP & torque. Just go to the drag strip and see, The DSM's there a always top contenders. The only Hondas you see beating DSM's are the high budget drag only cars. There are fully street legal DSM's WITH AIR CONDITIONING, POWER STEERING that can run high 10's.... NO NAWWWWWZ either. Put $1000-$2000 in a Honda and a DSM.... you'll a huge difference between the two cars in about 12 seconds. rysbrnr 01-23-2004, 11:08 AM Reliability is another topic though. I've personally known Hondas to be more reliable than a DSM. But they should be, condsidering they make way less HP than a DSM does. They are more relaible to a certain degree only. Try making a Honda pump out over 300hp and see how reliable it is. Stock 1g DSM motors can take a 500hp beating before needing a beefed up bottom end (pistons, rods, etc.) You can't do that on a Honda. The main thing I like about Hondas is the build quality of the car. They have good body integrity, far less squeaks and rattles, lightweight construction, and they look nice also. If you want to look nice, not work on the car much but don't mind being slow... get a Honda. If you want to look nice + go fast and beat over 95% of the cars in your town (including V-8's) with only a high schooler sized budget.... get a turbo DSM. kjewer1 01-23-2004, 12:54 PM To continue your point about the dragstrip... Everyone says "once" I saw this, or beat that car, etc. I run my car 300 times per year. Against everything you can possibly imagine. DSM absolutely dominate the strip when it comes to imports. Even against the domestics I dont lose often, nor do the other regular DSMs. And these are all street cars driven to the track on street tires and full exhuast per the rules. But of course there are some pople not terribly concerned about the dragstrip. So take what I say with that in mind. ;) 97dsmeclipse 01-23-2004, 01:12 PM dude get a dsm, they are the best cars you can buy for cheap. i have a 97 gs-t that is my daily driver and has little under 2k in the hole car, not just under the hood and on a stock turbo my car ran 13.8 on street tires and my 4th gear poped back out. I think the dsm is the best car you can buy for the money, Trust me i haved 3 of them working on my 4th btw i have a stock t-25 and stock internals with little fuel upgrade and im boostin 17 psi (15 when its cold out) Nayr747 01-24-2004, 04:52 AM 95 Eclipse-GSX, i dont know who you mean but JoeWagon probobly does. JoeWagon 01-24-2004, 05:17 AM www.shepracing.com Also he was in i think HOT ROD magazine for december.. i'm guessing at that. kjewer1 01-24-2004, 11:35 AM He was, not sure about the month though. The guy that does our heads has it on the counter. I still need to read the article. smokeurass 01-24-2004, 12:02 PM 95 GSXracer is so right. If you ever go to a dragstrip, the fastest cars there will be DSM's, along with some supras and rx7's. With the awd on the gsx, you get great traction off the line. N' these cars are so easy and cheap to modify. DSM 's are nice. Afrokid 01-24-2004, 12:59 PM The Eclipse can easily keep up with the Integra and RSX...so tell them go go fuck their little cars cus u got a real tuner car while they are all ricers. AcesHigh 01-24-2004, 02:03 PM If you want reliability, go with a Honda/Acura, but know that one of the turbo DSM triplets will blow you out of the water every time. Unless, of course, you've bolted on a turbo. Or are driving an NSX. Heh, the first one is more reasonable. And, while a DSM is fast, its not *that* fast. Putting it in with a TT Supra or Rx-7 is a bit of a stretch. It's more in league with an MR2, I'd say. BoostedSpyder 01-25-2004, 12:18 AM DSM's just kick everyone's ass... it just takes a while for everyone to see that, but they all will... someday... it's not just a river in Egypt... [you know, de-nile... get it... aww forget it...] 95eclipse-gsx 01-25-2004, 12:30 AM :D lol this thread started in USA and has gone all the way to the river NILE :)... every car is reliable if u treat it properly... so i would say buy a GSX or a GEO :D i have both :finger: Chavez408 01-25-2004, 01:48 AM someday... it's not just a river in Egypt... [you know, de-nile... get it... aww forget it...]  yea man get the DSM their great lookin cars and u dont need a 1k body kit to make it look hot and to make ppl turn their heads at ur car in the road and give u a thumbs up,unlike the honduhs and acura that need body kits to make them look hot.. yea ppl will also turn their heads to the car but just puke out the window :loser: vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
