Thanks,
Rachee

Mine does that too, only about once a year since I've owned it. You can smell wire insulation burning/melting, but everything continues to work so I ignore it. In fact, the last time it happend there was no visible smoke just the smell. Some close sniffing seemed to locate it coming from the vent at the base of the windshield, which may be related to the blower motor or defrost mechanism. I don't really know whats in there since I don't have a manual, but it happens in all types of weather and when not using the climate control. Weird.

That is the location of the opening for the air intake of the engine. I would suggest it might be the condensation evaporating back out the instake. Since there is no air moving into it after the engine is turned off, the warmer (hot) air from the intake manifold (close to the engine block) would slowly work it's way back out evaporating any condensation on the way. Is there any smell?

your cap to your coolant tank could be leaking like mine did and did the same thing yours is doing

Isn't that the side with the problem fittings and plastic tank attached to the radiator?

I honestly don't know because when mine blew I just filled 'er up and drove to the mechanic. I just thought I'd point out that many posters had had the same issues and no one mentioned it yet.
