Toyota Tacoma dies with Pro-Starttomhep 01-19-2004, 08:24 PM I recently bought a 1993 Toyota Tacoma, 6cyl. It runs great, when it runs. Occasionally, it dies for no apparent reason. The "Check Engine" comes on and it dies instally. It will restart after awhile. I haven't been able to pin it to tempurature or time. The computer shows no codes. The one thing unusual about the car is that it has a Pro-Start automatic starter. The starter seems to work flawlessly but I realize this could be the culprit. Any ideas on trouble shooting techniques? '03DC3.4TRD4X4 01-24-2004, 08:00 AM Well there was no Tacoma until the '95 model year. But since I have the motor you mention in my '94 4Runner I think I may have your solution. Buy and install a new EFI Relay. Mine was about 20$ back in '96 when I had the problem but it fixed it and hasn't returned since. badboy916 02-01-2004, 12:32 PM 93 TACOMA......LOL small chance it could be the fuel pump vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
