More pep for a Ford 3.0 V6?

Hey guys, My buddies dad has a ranger with a 3 liter 6 and he's looking for some extra power. I don't picture him as the crazy 12 second 1/4 type, I think he's just looking for a bit more thump (about the same as a stock 5.0). He said no motor swaps so what should I tell him to do? I'm thinking throttle body, injectors, intake and exhaust to start. What do you think?

But seriously, a supercharger sounds like the most reasonable to me as well.

if its the duratec V6 he has quite a few options as far as aftermarket goes.

All of the 3.0 engines in rangers are the vulcan engines, which are base taurus engines mounted length wise. They are pushrodders, so they naturally make low hp and higher torque. What year is that ranger?? It could be a FFV (flex fuel vehicle) which with slight modification, can run on compressed natural gas. As for power, air filters and exhaust seem like the only inexpensive(relatively) options. A chip could also be a possibility.

dude, tell him to go get an intake from k&n, a catback exhaust,some good headers, and he could even put anew intake manifold on and add a turbo

The super charge and turbo are very extreme and depending on the amount of PSI they put out, you're gonna need to put some really hard core internals in that 3.0. It should already be mass air flow, my 2.9 wasn't. I built my engine all in one swoop, but the 2.9 is competely different from the 3.0L.

Swapped the Speed Density ECU for a MAF ECU and rewired. I got a custom ground cam made, pace setter headers, dynomax super turbo dual exhaust muffler, and brand new heads milled .030". I also have an air adjuster to correctly set the a/f ration for the mis calibrated parts (3.8L MAF on a 2.9L). As of right now, it's pretty fast. My friend has a 4.6L and I am pretty sure this little V6 could smoke it. I had 19lbs injectors, but I was having problems when I just threw everything together. I switched back to the 14lbs. BIG Mistake. It needs more air, you can hear it sucking, sounds like it has turbo. Next project is to put on Bosche Design II (4 spayer) fuel injectors, 65mm T.B. and I already have a 65mm MAF to put on it. It has no low end torque, but once you hit 2,100 rpm you're gone. That's the design of the cam though. You can tell the fuel injectors are bottoming out at around 3,500 rpm because the air adjuster is set so rich. Right now it hits about 4,100 rpm before the tranny shifts (auto). It really screams. Once all my new mods are done, this little engine is gonna be tite. Hopefully I wont have to switch trannys soon. I might get a 5sp, but I've never owned/driven a clutch.

Just remember, the turbo itself costs a lot $$$ as well as the injectors you'll need to power it... You'll need harder internals and lower compression ratio. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
