help mikemhp 01-18-2004, 01:03 AM
i have narrowed my truck's problem down to the following: egr vacuum regulator; pcv valve; or maf sensor.... i got no resistance from the egr vac. reg. (short), and i think i have a leak or faulty vacuum hose near the egr. right after i shut the engine off, i can hear a "pppssssssssssss" (kind of like letting the air out of a tire, but not as loud) right in the area of the egr vac reg... or slightly behind the egr valve itself. i don't know exactly how to check and/or verify the vacuum hoses to determine if they are working right. i do not have a vacuum pump or tester for this.... what can i do to try to fix this myself???? i'm getting closer to finding out the exact problem... any help would be greatly appreciated- please see first post= http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=176439&referrerid=130272 for description of problem. thanks!!! The Bondo Bandit 01-18-2004, 02:06 AM you might want to go to a shop and have them smoke test it , i spent days trying to find a vacume leak once and i found nothing , they hooked up the smoker and there it was , smoke pouring out a small hole in a vacume line . took 5 minutes , cost 10 bucks .
