4.9 1988 F150 Trouble codes ? ford88 01-15-2004, 09:17 PM
I have pulled the codes on my 1988 f150, but don't have a reference to help tell me what they mean. Can anyone make heads or tails of these two strings ? First is : 2167 ( repeated twice ) followed by a long pause then 1 then 14 41 51 87 32 ( repeated twice ) Symptoms on the vehicle are a check engine light with a low idle ( rough ) that will go out after the truck warms up, but come back on some times at cruise speeds on colder days. The truck is also a hard start if it stalls with cylinders coming back one at a time with lots of black soot. All gauges appear normal. I suspect TPS since I replaced the O2 and idle air once already. Any info would be appreciated. pete54ford 01-15-2004, 10:28 PM 32 is EVP voltage above closed limit- perform EGR valve, EVP sensor and EVP circuit checks. 51 is sensor signal above maxium limit. ECT {possible open} 41 {r} indicates lean.Actually they all have to do with your EFI fuel delivery system. Start with your EGR valve, and also include your Idle air control valve. {I see you did that} . Good luck, couldnt find the rest of your codes. Sorry. 88_f150_300_4x4 02-11-2005, 12:11 PM you can get the other codes from www.fordfuelinjection.com Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
