slight problem(s)?

I purchased my aztek about a month ago. LOVE IT! It's a 2004 aztek and my first new car! I love everything about it. However, I have two questions.

1. There is a slight rattle coming from the glove compartment area when I hit a bump on the road but I can't figure exactly where it's coming from. My wife says its the handle on the glove compartment, but I can't seem to figure it out. Anyone else had similar problems?

2. This is the more important question. How does the hatch in the back release? I know this sounds really dumb, but when I press either the button on my keyless entry or the button on the console, it "pops" the hatch, but when I go to open the hatch, it won't open. It feels like when you close a care door not all the way but lock it... know what I mean? It feels as though the hatch is halfway open but still locked. I checked out the owner's manual, but could not find an answer. I am thinking of asking about it when I take it in for an oil change, but thought I'd try here first. I posted a message before I bought my Aztek and your replies were part of what convinced me to make the purchase... for which I am very grateful!

Thanks!

The hatch is a pretty common problem, very much more so in cold weather. Simplest thing to do is lift (in the middle always) as you hit the button on remote. You could search the forums at www.aztekfanclub.com as weel to find various other solutions some have found. I haven't heard anything about a rattle in glove box area, so I don't know what it could be, and could only suggest a visual inspection for something loose in the area. Good luck and hope you contuniue to enjoy the new ride. Ray
