My son has a 1996 Pontiac Transport. He tried to lift his hood to change the oil and it is stuck. He took it to Pep Boys and two body-work shops and no one can help him.

Does anyone has any suggestions on how he can lift his hood. The one person at Pep Boys told him he has to be really careful or he could accidentially activitate the airbags.

Thanks for any information you are willing to share.

first pull the handle on the inside of the car, and with your fist, hit the center of the hood by the latch in front, that usually loosens the latch and will open your hood, its a common problem.

you may need 2 people to do this, one to hold the handle open, and the other to hit it.

Does anyone know how to replace the "Hood Release" on a 96 Pontiac Transport? I've taken it to Pep Boys and two Body shops and they were of no help at all. The closest dealer is over 50 miles away and I can't afford to have it towed that distance. I forgot to mention - the stupid thing will not start. That's what prompted me to open the hood. I pulled on the release knob and it sort of partially broke off. Any opinions are appreciated. Thank you.

try this ^ have some one push down on the front of the hood, and some one else inside pulling the cable, if you cannot use the handle try like vice grips or plyers on the cable
