MY FATHERS 240D is rusted out but this diesel engine keeps on ticking
I am thinking of puting this economical engine ,after I go through it, in a small pickup-S10, Ranger..etc. The electical and ignition is not a worry but I wonder if anyone has done it????

Why don't you try to post this in the right forum? This is the INTEGRA forum so you would need to post this in the ford or mercedes forum.

If you have engine, trans. and new motor mounts, wireing, and so on. You can do it.

Not to down your project but look at the payback. What is the price to overhaul the 240 engine? Add the time and labor of fabricating everything needed to install in a small pick-up. Also, do you have to buy a truck? As far as I know, you will have to install the MB trans to match the engine. If you have all the parts, a welder and fabricating skills and plan to drive the truck about 300,000 miles ,go for it. Most small pickups get 20 + mpg anyway. In my area diesel costs more reg. gas. Also, this swap would probably make the truck hard to sell if you get tired of it.

I am a farmer with my own shop and just how much is a S-10 with a shelled engine going to go for. What would it go in trade. Trade is not the priority but the concept of keeping the family heirloom going on in a vehicle that would be useful. Diesel is cheaper where I live. I will be doing the overhauling. The market is not making what I want so I will fill the nitch in myself but I was wondering if anyone had had any experience with such a project and I guess that it is so obscure that I will be the first
