4th gen. Eclipse???2of9 01-08-2004, 07:10 PM http://autoshow.msn.com/as/autoshow2004/article.aspx?xml=Mitsubishi&shw=autoshow2004 the New Eclipse...wut do you guys think...they say its 3.8L V6 engine producing a "good" 270 hp. i think that was lame, 3.8 V6 producing 270 is alot, but its a 3.8 liter engine?!! well...more suggestions from u guys, peace GSX88 01-08-2004, 07:23 PM The back almost looks like a 350z. Car and driver magazine has an article on it and it says something like "why this wont be the next generation eclipse" or something like that. I lost the magazine so i cant quote it exactly. Still nice though Import2nr99 01-08-2004, 07:27 PM Could that look any more like a z? and how impracticle is that interior? That car is gonna cost an arm and a leg and do nothing but disappoint eclipse lovers everywhere! Personally, I hate it... no matter what engine is in it. But then again... thats only my opinion Afrokid 01-08-2004, 07:32 PM likes like a 350z on drugs or something...not worthy of being the new eclipse [better then the current third gens though]. these futuristic cars never make it to production most of the time. this eclipse is more suited to be like the 7th gen or something. BoostedSpyder 01-08-2004, 07:34 PM it looks like a 350z fucked a g35, and when the baby popped out, they kicked it in the ass while holding athe tailpipe. then it grew up and jacked some m3 style rims... ever wonder why the mew mazda's look like varsity 2g eclipses? CUZ 2G ECLIPSES ARE SO BAD ASS LOOKING!!! Afrokid 01-08-2004, 07:35 PM "The eye-catching concept is all-wheel drive, with one engine—a 270-horspower 3.8-liter V6—powering the front wheels and a 150-kilowatt, E-Boost electric motor powering the rear wheels and adding 200 more horsepower for a total of 470." is that saying that the new eclipse will have 470 crank horsepower? Import2nr99 01-08-2004, 07:40 PM hhhmmm 2 engines... wonderful! So now twice as much shit can go wrong!! plus it's an electric engine.... and it has 20 inch rims on it. I don't know about anyone else.. but it sounds to me like it's just gonna be another one of those luxury sports cars that have an insane amount of power, and it's never used because only old folks and rich people with no balls will drive them Chavez408 01-08-2004, 07:43 PM :puke: me no like Afrokid 01-08-2004, 07:45 PM i agree...im not buying one..estimated price is gonna be like 50,000 for all that crap in there. GSX88 01-08-2004, 07:52 PM eclipse CONCEPT!! its not gonna look like that! did you ever see the toyota avalon concept from like 92 or 93?? it was a tiny two door sports car. This just goes to show you that concepts are only concepts lol ashah000 01-08-2004, 07:52 PM glass roof :screwy: 20 in wheels :screwy: I am going to see the car on saturday, at the detroit auto show. I think that the 4g sucks. COME ON ITS A HYBRID!!!!!! BRING BACK THE HUMP :smokin: Sevren 01-08-2004, 08:07 PM I highly doubt A) It will be produced B) If it is, I'll be able to afford one for 10 years C)Routine repairs will cost less than 2 grand a pop, ie worse than a 3000gt VR4 blasian_man 01-08-2004, 08:15 PM 470 horse power, can you imagine the torque steer on that mutha? i'd rather see a more mildly tuned evo engine in there, maybe around 230hp, with awd, and something not so expensive looking Import2nr99 01-08-2004, 08:17 PM Yea, They definately aren't being very realistic with this vehicle. But hopefully all it ends up being is a concept. If it's getting this kind of reaction already, mitsubishi would have to be intelligent enough not to put that thing into production 95_GSX 01-08-2004, 08:25 PM it looks like a 350z ass-holed a audi tt. voila a newer shittier 4G eclipse. i personally feel after they quit producing the 2G, they shoud have discontinued the eclipse. because what the DSM's established as a performance vehicle the 3rd and soon to be 4G are deffinetly ruining. my :2cents: Afrokid 01-08-2004, 08:35 PM who knows, maybe this "470" hp...car..thing..that looks like something in star trek will actually be like the next 2g for eclipses? who knows...cant actually tell until it comes out. JoeWagon 01-08-2004, 08:41 PM Too bad I didn't get in on this earlier... I like it 10 times more than a 3g, but the front still looks like one. They are taking it in the right direction: away from 3g. Just because the slant of the roof is similar to a 350Z doesn't make it look like one at all. It looks no more like a 350Z than an TT or RSX does. Torque steer? Read the article, there is 270hp up front, not 470. I don't like it overall, but i would take that over a 3g every day of the week. Oh, and ITS A CONCEPT, THE 4G ECLIPSE WILL NOT LOOK LIKE THIS i thought all of you knew that concepts are not production vehicles. Don't think for a minute the 4g eclipse will have 20 inch rims. BoostedSpyder 01-08-2004, 08:46 PM it just goes to prove that our cars are soon to be clasics of a forgoten era... wtf are the mitsu designers thinking? mabey if we all write letters of distaste... aww fuck it... blasian_man 01-08-2004, 08:59 PM Torque steer? Read the article, there is 270hp up front, not 470 uh . . . yeah i read the article Look here: The eye-catching concept is all-wheel drive, with one engine—a 270-horspower 3.8-liter V6—powering the front wheels and a 150-kilowatt, E-Boost electric motor powering the rear wheels and adding 200 more horsepower for a total of 470 :) 96talontsi 01-10-2004, 09:44 AM if they where going to make us happy they should of at least produce a 3rd gen eclipse that was turbo.... :( 95_GSX 01-10-2004, 12:04 PM Oh, and ITS A CONCEPT, THE 4G ECLIPSE WILL NOT LOOK LIKE THIS i thought all of you knew that concepts are not production vehicles. Don't think for a minute the 4g eclipse will have 20 inch rims. yea i am sure about everbody here know that the chance of a concept vehicle making it to production( even remotely close to what the original concept was) is slim to none. but regardless they introduce concepts to get people talking about future models of the car. and i would'nt put it past them to throw 20" rims on a 4G. look what they did to the eclipse with the 3G. ashah000 01-10-2004, 03:54 PM I saw the car in person today at the detroit auto show and i wanted to piss on the dam car. The car should be blown up into pieces. The "plasma" taillights or whatever they are, are just plain gay. The glass roof should have a rock dropped on it. And i heard that they are going to drop the whole hybrid shit, and make it only gas powered, it will have 270 hp and a $23,000 base price. Chavez408 01-10-2004, 04:15 PM ::puke::especially with that orange paint :disappoin zenki240 01-30-2004, 11:40 AM i agree with most of ya'll, the third gen is hella ugly and i'd take this 4g any time over it. the 2nd gen IS badass and this one is only front wheel drive, or its a awd hybrid crap like that. but i think it looks sexy, however expensively sexy. the cost alone cancels out the sexy but it is fun to look at. it looks like they're trying to bring hints of the second gen back with the whole b-pillar thing, but yeah. i wouldn't mind driving it around. the interior looks kinda...out there but yeah, beats my car. just my 2 cents. Chavez408 01-30-2004, 01:58 PM lol y did u bring this thread back? :loser: ashah000 01-30-2004, 02:11 PM :nono: Don't even get me started on this P.O.S. again :chair: anarchy1114 01-31-2004, 05:05 PM hey anyone have a link to a pic of the 4th gen eclipse. lemme kno in my opinion they did the best with the second gen body style and the shold bring it back with some new engineering to it. maybe with a tuned down awd evo engine but thas my opinion i agree with a few peepz in this room it a damn concept car and prolly will never make it into production.....ie..remember the chevy borrego rally truck that would convert to 4 seater....same deal it'll prolly never happen Chavez408 01-31-2004, 05:12 PM there is no 4gen eclipse!!!ahhhh its only a concept! PS: im drinking :) ashah000 01-31-2004, 05:15 PM hey anyone have a link to a pic of the 4th gen eclipse. lemme kno in my opinion they did the best with the second gen body style and the shold bring it back with some new engineering to it. maybe with a tuned down awd evo engine but thas my opinion i agree with a few peepz in this room it a damn concept car and prolly will never make it into production.....ie..remember the chevy borrego rally truck that would convert to 4 seater....same deal it'll prolly never happen go back to the first page there is a link in the first post. anarchy1114 01-31-2004, 05:39 PM aiight then. theKind 04-15-2004, 10:52 PM Damn, you guys are some harsh criticizers! Hahaha...I don't think it's the hottest car ever, but it's pretty interesting nonetheless. The interior looks very sweet, and it's intriquing the Mitsubishi is even playing with AWD and almost 500HP. Yeah, I know it's a concept...but it's still fun! The designers say as far as the exterior is concerned, the production model should share approx. 80% of the concept body. Here's a pic I took of the concept in Chicago... http://kindtimes.com/content/places/IL/Chicago/events/2004AutoShow/images/images/AutoShow187.jpg There are a couple more pics here.. http://www.kindtimes.com/content/places/IL/Chicago/events/2004AutoShow/ metalhedskater 04-15-2004, 11:32 PM yea i went to the same one in chicago and it was pretty sweet....you have to see the car in person to like it....the only thing i dont like about it is the boddy looks like a fucking fat ass......and the hybrid engine means twice as much shit can go wrong with the car......i went to the auto show the day before the last day of the show.... theKind 04-15-2004, 11:37 PM I forget which day I went. But I know what you're saying, it's like they pushed the rest of the care too much forward. You can't win them all..and it still looks pretty slick from certain angles. http://kindtimes.com/content/places/IL/Chicago/events/2004AutoShow/images/images/AutoShow173.jpg real_madridcf 04-16-2004, 08:45 AM I dont really like it, its like a bunch of cars fused together. It has the front of the 3g and the back of a 350z and a TT. Dont know what mitsubishi's thinkin but they need to fix that shit up. Performance wise it seems alright (except for the hybrid engine), but the body looks gay (especially the lights). metalhedskater 04-16-2004, 11:50 AM The body isnt all that bad...it just needs to be skinnier....and the dual exhaust on the side is pretty bad ass.....it might be the colkor that makes it look fat ashah000 04-16-2004, 12:14 PM Its fucking ugly period. Of course thats just my opioion Raz_Kaz 04-16-2004, 01:02 PM I think there is a reason why its wide and fat, maybe for beter handling? I still think the 2nd gen is the best, more options and overall appearance beats all gens metalhedskater 04-16-2004, 01:48 PM oh well no doubt about the 2nd G especially from 97-99.....but they are dicontinuing the electric motor for sure.....so if they do that the enging will only produce under 300 HP which is pretty weak considering it weighs a ton and is a V6 RattlesnakeGST 04-16-2004, 02:03 PM Looks like Godzilla took a radioactive shit and somebody stuck wheels on it... That thing looks mad ugly... i wont be interested in another eclipse until they go back to its original characteristics... turbo 2.0L awd.. theKind 04-16-2004, 06:28 PM Looks like Godzilla took a radioactive shit and somebody stuck wheels on it... HAHAHA! metalhedskater 04-17-2004, 01:52 AM What the fuck are the people running Mitsubishi smoking??? EclipseRST 04-17-2004, 02:45 AM i dont know but i really want some of it!!! :smokin: slowgsowner 04-17-2004, 07:51 AM wouldn't buy it if it had a friggin V12 in it (okay well probably would if it cost the same as my 2g gsx new) i guess I'm just patial to the one I got. at least it looks better than the damn 3g. gstclips 04-20-2004, 12:40 AM yea i was at mitsu last month and talked to a new car sales man...he had the pic of the concept on his computer and sat there and told me it was going to have a v8 twin turbo haha what a crack head guess mitsu is tryin to pass up the lambo...whateva ill believe it when i see it, hopefully they bring back sum 2g style, so sexy. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2010, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
