no electrical power

I was driving on the highway and the engine and electrical system just shut down.. I traced the hot leads from the battery to the firewall just fine but no electrical power inside van.
Any thougthts??

Check the hot lead going into the back of the fuse box. My van used to do that, I'd just kick the fuse box and it powered right back up.

check fusible link...wire between starter relay and alternator...check for juice at alt. and if none that's probably it...same thing happened to my 77 after hitting pothole...i paid 125 for a tow and 3.49 for a new fusible link!

....also check for corroded battery cables. Typical situation with corroded battery cables is: You accelerate your vehicle to high RPM and it's like someone turned the ignition off. The vehicle comes to a stop. You restart the engine and it seems to run fine so you drive off. While accelerating, again the engine just dies?

If the above is what describes part of your problem, check the battery cables. Look for corrosion under the insulation too.
