crackling/vibrating speakers

I have a 1998 blazer with all the factory speakers. The right front passenger side recently started making this vibrating, crackling noise
when it gets alittle base. It sounds sort of like there is a hornet trapped inside the speaker. It doesn't do this every time I play the stereo. Sometimes it doesn't do it at all and everything sounds great.
Is it worth replacing the speakers. I was told I would have to replace
both front speakers and not just one. Thanks for any input anybody can give me.

I don't see why you would need to replace both speakers. It sounds like a blown speaker to me.

If Your Going For High Quality Sound You Need A Matching Set If Not Find A Cheap One That Fits

Hi,
Blazer speakers are not the best in the world. They still use paper cones. The thin strips of paper on the outer edge of the speqaker cone come loose and rattle.I had this happen with the right door under warranty and the drivers side failed about two months ago. I went to our local sound shop and for $160.00 total, had the front speakers replaced. I put a set of Pioneer three ways in and have bertter sound that ever. It actuallly sound like a super expensive system.

Hey,
I want to put 2 10" Kicker's in the back of my 2000 Blazer LT 4-door. I am replacing all 6.5" in the front and rear w/ Pioneer 2-ways. Can anyone tell me how to install the subs w/o taking it to a speaker shop?

I have a 98 and all my speakers have gone bad. I bought two pairs of Pioneers at Walmart for 60 bucks a pair and put them in myself. You need to get 6 inch round speakers and just screw them in because the screw holes dont line up .

Hey whats up, I got an 98 Jimmy and it has done the same things. All I did was open the door panel and glue the paper cones back to the base useing any type of glue. After this the speakers now work perfectly. I guess this happens because of the moisture content which dries up the glue on the cones and they tend to seperate for the base of the speakers which in case cause the vibration noise at high base levels

Guys, quit being cheap asses and replace the speakers with an aftermarket replacement like pioneer, JVC, etc along with a cheap aftermarket CD player.

Glueing the cones back is just plain cheap and it won't last.

If you want good sound for the rest of the life of the truck, replace the cd player and the speakers with aftermarket.

If you get the speakers off of ebay or during a store sale, you can get them pretty cheap.

Remember, aftermarket speakers will not work with the stock CD player seeing the stock CD player is set to be used with higher resistance 8-9.5ohm speakers whereas aftermarket are 4ohm if my memory serves me right. All you will do is blow the deck anyways seeing it will overheat very faster with the lower resistence speakers.

Total cost will not be above 100-150 if you shop smart.

Trust me, your ears will thank you.

Ya thats true but I dont want to put in a new radio/cd. I like the stock look. I find that aftermarket cd players look bad becasue they dont take up the same space as the stock one and it leaves a gap which they only put in a sheet of plastic which I find looks bad. I would rather get new speakers but as you said you cannot becasue they would not work with the stock radio. Ne way I find that my stock speakers are pretty good, but later I probaly would like to get new speakers but I dont want to get a new radio. Is there ne way to get new speakers w/o getting a new radio?

I cant tell a difference from them now or when I got the car off the lot so I think that they are pretty damn good now. Ne way cheap speakers with the paper, but not bad sound

I know, but you have nothing to compare to, the new ones I popeed in sound so much better than stock and much clearer.

You just are used to the stock sound so you think it is good. Hear a blazer with good speakers in it and you will notice and change you mind quickly.
