240sx swap insurance?zerogt86 01-08-2004, 03:54 PM hey, i was thinking about getting a 92 240sx hatch and gatting an sr20det put in... is it possible to get insurance on a car like this and if so how much money is, im 17 btw. J SPEC SilEighty 01-08-2004, 08:55 PM you can get insurance on the car, but the motor would be extra. If you get in a crash then don't let the insurance company find out that you had an sr20det in there. there is a chance that they won't cover you at all for your accident because you had an illegal motor in your car. if you get in a crash though and they don't find out you had the sr20 in there and you tell them that your going to need a new motor to get it to run again, they are just going to stick a ka in there. here's a thread we had not to long ago about insurance prices http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=164001 mrflip69 01-08-2004, 10:11 PM That dude selling his S14 w/ RB25 for like 27k was saying the engine was covered. I believe it's possible to have the engine covered but you'll have to pay for a licensed appraiser the company sends out to look at and verify value. Of course your premiums go up after... but you don't want to replace your SR should it get stolen or in a crash, now do you? I don't think the insurance company is going to cut any slack to a 17 year old guy with a high powered motor in his car. They will figure that your in the "racing age" and that your going to drive fast so they will rape you up the ass over and over again on your premium. stealthj 01-08-2004, 11:42 PM xactly y i got a ca18det CHEAP.... but im NEVER going to crash it.... :( vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
