3 rotor rx-8ferrari_adidas5 01-05-2004, 07:35 PM A Mazda RX-8 is powerful in its own rights, but if you really want something that will get up and go and keep you from breathing for that 10-12 sec down the quarter mile, do as Acosta Motorsports in Wallington, NJ, did. they took a stock RX-8, left the interior stock, but put on some after market body effects, oh, and a tri-rotor engine that boosted the horsepower from 248 to a whoping 950! also under the hood is a T-80 dual ball bearing turbo, Acosta header, TiAL 46mm wastegate, Garrett intercooler, TiAl blow-off valve, custom ram air, and more. What do you think of that, speed enthusiests? spirit_r 01-14-2004, 09:47 PM wow, they've been doing the cosmos three rotor engine swap for many years now on the rx-7. and they've been able to pull out a lot more than 950hp. combine that with the superiour rx-7 and it will blow away that rx-8. What do you think of that, speed enthusiests? FRIMX 02-06-2004, 05:41 PM ahh since you have seen that maybe you can answer my question..thres three rotors......right ...then why on the headers is there 6 pipes on them? I hope i phrazed this right to understand because i ask this on the rx-7 forum 2 and they gave me good info but not wat i was lookin for.because i figured 2 rotors 2 header pipes 3 rotors 3 header pipes. eckoman_pdx 02-10-2004, 02:36 AM Acosta did it on all stock internals. They debuted the car @ the Nov 2003 SEMA this year. I believe it was 850WHP. That's not bad on a stock inside. I forget the management they used, Modified mag talked about it all in a recent issue. 89Turbo944 02-10-2004, 02:50 AM Are you talking about the intake runners ontop of the engine FRIMX? The FD has 4 runners, and the 20b's have 6. Each rotor gets 2 runners. ferrari_adidas5 02-25-2004, 10:56 PM each rotor has two exhaust ports, therefor it needs that many maverick_0111 01-05-2005, 11:21 PM each rotor has two exhaust ports, therefor it needs that many Each rotor has two intake ports, a primary and secondary. I noticed before this post, but felt the need to comment on some recent posts made. im sure its cool and fast but, i couldn't afford a 60-70k$$ mazda rx8.they should come with that 3-rotary motor, the cheap fuckers. 60-70K?? What prices have you been looking at. An RX-8 cost no where near 60-70K new. They are in the 30K range typically new. Also, you'd never find a stock the RX-7 here with a 3-Rotor...why?? They never even came with a 3-Rotor, The 3-Rotor motor is a JDM motor from the mid-90's. Why expect a used JDM motor from the mid-90's that never was sold in a car here...even in the beloved RX-7...to be place in the RX-8. Granted though, if they re-designed the 3-Rotor and stuck one stock in an RX-8, it would have been a pretty kick ass. kelrx8-civicbeater 03-07-2005, 06:37 PM I noticed before this post, but felt the need to comment on some recent posts made. 60-70K??
