The way I see it is this:

I've raced a swapped EX before in my "Classic" SE-R, and beat it by three cars.

I know that your DX should be lighter than the EX, so I should mention that one of the two b16 cars that beat me in town was a light-as-hell CRX with an I/H/E b16...and he beat me by one car (my front-bumper even with his back-bumper).

I have also raced a couple of stock SpecVs, and both times I have raced them, we were dead-even, with one pulling maybe a fender, depending on how fast we shifted.

I've run a best of 15.0 using a G-Tech, with a spinning launch.

Don't count on top-end either, as most these races reached into 4th gear.

I say it'll be close...too close to tell, especially not knowing you guys' skills.

Just race and find-out.

we raced again this time i had no wheel spin i jumped him like 1 car in 1st gear then pulled more in 2nd gear by the end of 3rd i had like 2 cars on him that was a week ago now he added a exhuast system and some axel balance transfer kit? something like that i dunno what it is but do you think with those extra mods he will beat me now ? i had 2 cars on him when he had intake/header/nocat now he'll have intake/header/nocat/fullexhuast/balance axel transfer kit?

It's estimated to add up to 25WHP on those cars.

Hello,

I'm a Spec V owner - and I'm sorry, but I have to disagree on your race about being dead even.

First, a few reason to support my argument -

A modded spec v with intake and header is putting down about 160-166 horses or so depending on the weather. The thing with this is the torque - he is making almost 170lbs torque where your making what, 130 or so - there is no way that your civic, even with reving to 9 grand is going to out drive or be faster then the spec -

secondly, depending on the modifications done to his car, the balance shaft removal frees up between 6-10 horses and if he does the knock sensor, then he is looking at another 4-6 also.

the balance shaft is a component in the engine that basically is a harmonic balancing tool used to reduce vibration in the engine. Since the 2.5 is also offered in the Altima, Nissan needed to make the altima a comfortable car to drive in thus the balance shaft is added - since it is chain driven, it robs horses from the car and also causes oil frothing in the oil pan. Removing it from the car causes more vibration but then frees power because it is not on the chain anymore.

I have a spec and I have intake, headers, cams, exhaust, and motor mounts and i race against b16's all the time - no way guy -

You must hate torque :eek7: . Unless you can get your flywheel machined right fast or pick up a lightweight aluminum job, you're going to struggle...

why would i hate torque? i mean, i have no problems with it - it's just fine with me, it's what pulls me in the low end - i trade good torque for hp simply because that torque is whats pulling the car

hp takes over from where torque leaves off at 5252 rpm.

Good job bringing back a 9 month old thread to argue with people that aren't even on the board anymore

Oh jeesh, let it go man. Go find a fucking race of your own and prove him wrong that way.
