I have a 94 z28 with the lt1. My question is would it be alright to drive the car with a 160 degree thermostat in it during the winter without messing anything up?

It's not gonna hurt anything. Just as long as you have some good anit freeze. It don't matter how cold it is outside, normal operating temps will always be reached. And the lower stat isn't going to effect cold starts or warming up.

Your HVAC won't blow as hot as it could with a stock 180.

make sure you dont get your temps too cold, your oil will be milky. Wait that would be a good idea to put it in a carton and sell your milk oil. Im gonna be rich!

What is your reasoning for running a 160* stat? It actually might cause you to run slightly richer. I wouldn't really recommend it.

agree, it really didn't make any sence to me. An engine wont run right if it stayed at 160.

I have a 160 in my 97 and I havent had any probs with the cold . It still warms up and the heat is still hot. It doesnt stay at 160 anyways. more around like 175 or 180 when cruising. The 160 really kicks in the summer tho , car runs nice and cool. Just do yourself a favor and dont start beating on the car till its nice and warmed up , nomatter what time of year it is. Thats when you break things
