what concept cars have you guys seen?Psman32@af 04-17-2001, 12:57 PM what concepts or soon to be released production cars/trucks have you seen on the road before they have been released. The newest one for me is a minivan i saw going the other way on the free way. I have no idea who made it or what it was. The body and headlights looked like a venture, it looked like a Ford grill and the tail lights looked like wider Ford Ranger tail lights. The other one was a X3, but since im in detroit, im begining to think that that was just a rebadging of a X5 even though it looked different then the X5 . The for sure ones though are a Chevy silverado that takes alot of stlying cues from dodge, and the next dodge ram. Porsche 04-17-2001, 04:57 PM I've seen a pic of an X7 but, you probably do a lot better in Detroit. BTW, in a magazine I read that BMW is releasing all of these models by 2005. 1 Series: To compete against the Jetta and other mid-priced sedans. There will be three engines, the first two will be about 114 Hp to 138 Hp. The last is the "M" model which will have 240HP. 4 Series: This is a new upscale convertible design to go against the SLK 320 and the SC 430. 6 Series: BMW's new Supercar. I don't know a whole lot about it though. X3, X7: Basically toned down and Tuned X's the X3 is supposed to priced about the same as a RAV4 and the X7 is you Range Rover type SUV. I'm not positive on all of this info so I might fix mistakes later. There also may be a 2 Series. Heep 04-17-2001, 05:25 PM Yeah, that's all right...I read about the new BMW's in my new magazine. I've seen: Ford Indigo Ford Tremor Ford Thunderbird (new one, before it was released) Chevy Trailblazer Pontiac Aztek before it was released (I hated it then, I hate it now.) Something pulling out of Ford headquarters in Dearborn with the big black boxes all over it, I have no idea what it was. It was an SUV, might have been the new Explorer which is out now, or anything else. It was Explorer size though. I think that's it.....I've seen the General Lee at the local car show last year, it's gonna be in this years car show too (this weekend!!) I tooted the Dixie horn too. You have to hold the horn button down the whole time if you wanna play the whole tune. Porsche 04-18-2001, 05:49 PM Some corrections to the original post Their is a totally redisgned 5 series and there is no 2 Series. The 1 Series shares resources with the 3 series and the enigines are 114 and 143 Hp. vettemaan 04-18-2001, 08:18 PM i saw a PT cruser about 5 months before the release! it had monitoring crap all over it and i just happened to have a camera at the time! when the guy saw me taking pictures he sped up to about 95-100 i was laughing my ass off matt 04-18-2001, 08:24 PM The other day I saw a new Mini driving down my street. It had the black cover up crap on it that most prototypes have to try to disguise them on the streets. It looked pretty kewl from what I could tell, but I don't think I'd drive it. Psman32@af 04-18-2001, 09:39 PM I've also seen a new explorer and expidtion before released, and i think i saw a prototype of a hands-free driving system! I passed teh guy too fast to see for sure, i dont think i saw anyone in the drivers seat with some weird stuff on the steering wheel in a brand new at the time caprice. I also saw the mustang like 6 months before it was supposed to be released. Heep 04-19-2001, 10:17 AM lol...I'd be passing the guy pretty quick too if there was no driver in it, what if the robot thingy froze up or went berzerk? Psman32@af 04-19-2001, 02:29 PM The no driver thing was like at least 3 years ago. I knew about the 1 series and the X7 and heard about the X3, but i didnt know that it would go into production. Porsche 04-19-2001, 04:54 PM It's scheduled to be out in about 2003. MrCorvetteZ06 04-24-2001, 10:19 PM I recently saw the Chrysler Crossfire...pretty ugly if you ask me. Heep 04-25-2001, 05:39 PM Yeah, I agree. What's with Amrican car designers these days? MrCorvetteZ06 04-26-2001, 09:46 PM No idea...then again, every time i look at the new viper it looks better and better:confused: Psman32@af 05-03-2001, 06:41 PM Last sunday, I saw a 3 of them, the 2002 Dodge Ram, 2002 T-bird, and a 2002 Buick Rendevious. Two days ago I saw a Toyota Highlander, not the current prodeuction one, and a current model cougar doing some suspension testing. Hudson 08-06-2001, 05:35 PM Cars I've seen: Lincoln "Baby Navigator" Audi TT (two, in the US, before it was for sale) Audi A3 (also, in the US) BlOOe46 04-11-2003, 12:16 PM Originally posted by Heep Yeah, I agree. What's with Amrican car designers these days? actually, the crossfire is largely based on the SLK's design and platform u know . . . because of the daimler chrysler thing SuPeRcAr_MaN 04-11-2003, 10:18 PM Like BlOOe46 said, the Crossfire is pretty much sharing the sane platform as the SLK, so it should come as no surprise that they share similar interiors. IMO, the Crossfire is a pretty nice vehicle. The concept was ugly, but they cleaned it up for production, and it is different than pretty much everything on the road. Jimster 04-14-2003, 12:48 AM Ferrari Enzo Mazda Neospace Mazda RX8 Alfa Romeo 147 GTA SuPeRcAr_MaN 04-14-2003, 03:29 PM Jim, are you saying you saw them in person??? And what is a Mazda Neospace? Jimster 04-17-2003, 01:30 AM Originally posted by SuPeRcAr_MaN Jim, are you saying you saw them in person??? And what is a Mazda Neospace? Yes I have- I'm not entirely sure the Neospace is the concepts name but- I'll have to look it up- it's an odd one though............... boingo82 04-17-2003, 01:53 AM In small-town Southern Utah? LOL!!! The G35 was out for 4 months before I saw one here!! Dpow 04-18-2003, 07:18 PM Saw 3 of these today Looked Chryslerish Hope attachment works Dpow 04-18-2003, 07:18 PM it worked! Swoxy 04-19-2003, 09:24 AM SuPeRcAr_MaN 04-19-2003, 06:17 PM That looks like a good match, Swoxy. I think it's pretty strange how they disguise prototype models like this... I guess it is pretty rare to see one, too. You just happened to have a camera??? Dpow 04-19-2003, 06:40 PM I drive 1000 miles a week taking pictures of houses. No I didnt just happen to have a camera I always have a camera with me...Nikon with wide angle and 500mg of storage..want to see some cool houses, trashed mobile homes, great views, millon dollar grattos, over priced lofts, seedy condos, tract homes?? I have them all. I heard that State Farm is spending millions to give their insureds cameras to take pictures of their accidents to help prevent insurance fraud(my old job-preventing insurance fraud). the 300c looks like a good match. There we were 3 cars under rap followed by an FX35 there were lots of dropped jaws and pointed fingers.. :flash: vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
