The lights illimunate to indicate the seat warmers are on, but neither side heats up. Any ideas??? richpinkham 12-30-2003, 01:05 PM The heaters, usually have gone bad and need to be replaced. Replaced under extended warranty. trieck1232 12-30-2003, 05:53 PM i have the same problem, where can you buy the element for the seat? btw its a 96 jgc limited richpinkham 12-30-2003, 06:18 PM Mine came from the dealer and knowing Jeep thats probably a dealer Item only but there is a guy in this group thats in New York and sells jeep parts so if you ask him he may have some cheaper than the dealer and could explain how to install them. |Good luck trieck1232 12-30-2003, 09:52 PM od you knwo his screen name by any chance? richpinkham 12-31-2003, 11:05 AM " fdrepairshop " He is in this group and can be contacted through his screen name. Good luck beemerchef27 07-24-2004, 12:59 PM I have a '97 Orvis with and my drivers side seat heater doesn't work. I thought the fuse might be blown but the dealer told me that "couldn't" be the case. They say it's definitely the heater element between the foam and the leather that's had one of it's really fine wires broken just by everyday use such as getting in and out of the jeep. I tend to believe the dealer because I have a Seat Heater Control Module that I took off another Orvis seat and tried it. It workes fine too but seat still doeasn't get warm. I'm going to have it fixed under extended warranty. MustangJohn 11-19-2004, 10:43 AM Both of my heated seats no longer work. I called the dealer and they told me the drivers side seat is no longer available. Besides they cost way too much. The dealer said you must replace the whole cusion. Does any know if the heating element is avilable for purchase through an aftermarket or OEM supplier? Also I want it to adapt to the stock wiring and switch. ChadEbert 11-19-2004, 07:51 PM Heated seats? My 98 JGC had em, Southern Cal winters aren't that bad, I think I used them twice. That might be a tricky item to track down, but the combined knowledge of people on here is great, one of the old timers will know. nick capage 11-20-2004, 10:44 AM Just purchased a 98 GC Limited with heated leather seats. Very common problem. If you find a broken wire, refer to http://home.sc.rr.com/janet/TSB/08-03-99.htm for proper repair procedure. If seat is getting too hot or still not working then have faulty control module. This is a 1" by 2" by 1" bkack cube locate up under bottom of seat. This part is approx $100, but the chip inside can be replaced inside if you dare. The chip is made by texas inst. and cost $1. good luck! dksob81 02-04-2007, 07:20 PM Once you verify that battery voltage is at the wiring harness under the seat and the fuse and switch are working properly, check from an open circuit in the seat cover. Are you talking about that lil box that look like a relay, just slides into the harness plug, I swapped that with the passenger seat and still nothing. I did check the 4-wire harness for power: Light Blue/Black-12+ volts, Black/Orange- 0 volts, and also nothing form the other 2 wires. now on the passengerside I checked and got: Light Blue/White- about 7 volts, Black/Orange- 12+ volts, and the other 2 wires got about 6 or 7 volts. What do you think could be the problem. legalfee 02-05-2007, 12:26 PM There's a thermister in the circuit. In my case it had gone bad. I replaced it with a 1 ohm 1/2 watt resister and it works. dksob81 02-05-2007, 06:07 PM There's a thermister in the circuit. In my case it had gone bad. I replaced it with a 1 ohm 1/2 watt resister and it works. Where is this thermister located at and where can I get one. I think this may be the problem. I ran some test according to the FSM and tested the Cushion, Back, then it asked to check resistance between the heated seat switch output cirtcuit and the ground circuit and there should be b/t 2 kilohms and 200 kilohms, and I got nothing no continuity at all. Also, how hot do the seats get are they very noticeable.the passengerside works but doesn't seem to get hot enough. I notice yesterday when it was 7 degrees here in western PA, that the passenger heated seat does work, but before then I couln't even notice it, but my girlfriend said she could tell it was working, but it doesm't get real hot just enough to take the chill off the leather. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
