OEM oil filter or other major brand???xanth 12-27-2003, 10:38 PM Hello all, Just had my 1st LOF from the dealer. (1 hour for a lousy Oil change) Is it worth the money to buy a OEM filter or does some company make a good filter like Fram, or Quakerstate, for example. I have always had a GM car until now, so AC Delco was always available at the stores and when that route. Thanks, Dave- BullShifter 12-28-2003, 03:41 AM OEM are nice because they usually come with a drain plug washer, which should be replaced EVERY oil change. Fram makes decent filters. Do squeeze test, find the filter for your aplication(fram 3593A) & squeeze the filter. If it can be squeezed, do not buy it. No one ever said the dealer was quick, it wasn't unusual for an oil change to take 2hrs with the customer waiting @ the Honds dealer I worked for. Customer's used to get so pissed, lol. If you don't plan on maintaining your vehicle @ the dealer, I would suggest picking up a maint. list. This way you can have the same service done for less. 15K, 30K, 45K(and multiples) are the most important services. integrasedan 02-08-2004, 11:57 PM OEM oil filters are best, Fram are fair, AC Delco filters are okay, Penzoil are inferoir and K&N filters are great. if you are on a budget, i would recommend AC Delco or Fram. If you have money I would recommend K&N oil filter (if they make it for your model) or OEM. use good oil at oil changes too, valvoline, castro are good, stay away from penzoil and quakerstate if you do, just get frequent oil changes. the only thing i like going to the Honda dealer for a oil change is the OEM oil filter and honda oil and they also wash my car too which I love. surgicaltech 02-24-2004, 07:28 AM Guess who makes the Honda oil filter??? Give up?? Fram! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
