progressive brake light failure

The third brake light on my 93 g20 failed. No juice to the light. I thought it might be a loose connector, checked around in the trunk. I thought I had it back, but I may have been fooled by the sun. Later noticed it was gone again. Decided to wire directly from the brake light on the right side. I think I was careful to avoid shorting anything, but I must have done something because now I have no brake lights at all. What's worse, the car will crank but will not start. I'll check the fuses when it is light enough to see again, but in the meantime can anyone tell me where the likely trouble points are? I have all the other tail lights, turn signals, etc. It's just that there is no juice to the brake lights. I can see that the cable goes up front on the driver's side. There is probably some connection to the hand brake in the center. I can see the spring-loaded sensor switch on the brake pedal housing. Is there a circuit diagram/schematic somewhere? I don't want to have to have this car towed again... Thanks.

Kinkaju,

I have a similar problem with my 93 G20 brakes. None of the lights work. I changed bulbs and the fuse to no avail. Did you ever figure out your brake problem? Any advice would be appreciated. My e-mail address today is ccblues@comcast.net.

Thanks.

Hi. I've had the same problem and have done some research on this site. Someone suggested replacing the stop lamp switch assembly, which for my '96 is part #25320-75A00. Hopefully this works!
