Consol indication

Hello folks, I recently purchased an '02 Intrigue and was just wondering: Is the gear selector on the consol supposed to be illuminated. I realize there is indication on the instrument panel, what about the consol itself?
Just curious, thanks.

my '98 does not have lights; but I was led to believe later model years had lighted consoles... perhaps an option or part of a package.. would be nice if there were an aftermarket fix.

I've got a 2000 and my console doesn't have indicator lights, either. Just on the dash.

I have '99 Intrigue and the shifter on the floor has a 194 bulb that illuminates it. I just had to change it a couple months back.

Got a 2000 Intrigue GLS a month ago, and found the bulb in the console burned out. It's a 194 bulb that any part store would carry.

To replace the bulb you need to remove the console trim. Place gear shifter in N. Flip open the armrest/storage box top and you will see the two screws that hold down the rear end of the console trim, remove them and you can pop out the trim easily. Disconnect the connector to the traction control switch on the console, if you have traction control, and place the trim aside.

Now you'll see the 4 screws that hold down the shifter panel. Remove them and lift the panel a couple of inches so you can reach the bulb socket in the bottom of the panel. Turn the socket and take it out of the panel, and there sits the bulb.

Hey...

I changed the bulb yesterday on my 1998 Intrigue, and what a difference. Strange thing, the bulb that was in there didn't really look burned out, but more like it was coated with something so it wouldn't illuminate the display. Maybe 1998s came this way from the factory?

Anyway, nice to finally be able to look down and see what gear I am in.

Well, after years going by, my '98 shifter light is working. Turns out there was a 194 bulb that must have burnt out or otherwise not owrking from day one!!!

I was glad I picked up a few extra 194's when I replaced the console light. Turns out they go in the sidemarker lights too.

I have a 2000 Intrigue that also has the shifter on the floor in which the bulb that illuminates it is also burnt out. Can anyone tell me how hard it is to get to this bulb to replace it? Any help would be appreciated.....thanks, vsnider

nevermind....just read further and saw instructions....when I went to change the bulb, as soon as I touched it, it went on....just had to screw it in tight. :-)
