Astra 777Darkwing 12-25-2003, 10:52 PM this is a new brand of car alarm that I picked up at Arkansas Car Stereo. They said it was great for the price, but although I have never had an alarm, I can bet you DEI makes better stuff. Here is my reasoning: For $420, I got, installed: -2 way lcd remote -5 button remote -dual zone shock sensor -immobilizer -keyless entry -trunk and door open alarms -5 tone alarm siren@110dB sounds good right? I mean, for that stuff in DEI you would expect to pay maybe $700. But let me tell you, the equipment is no good. I didn't get a trunk pop, the hood is unmonitored, there is no "shaking sensor" and no freaking stickers for the windows! Not to mention I get false alarms all the time, and when I wash my car with the alarm on, it doesn't even sound. I can jump on the back of the car and it won't even chirp, I can shake it like its in a freaking earthquake and it doesnt blink, but if you flick the A-pillar, it will act like you hit it with a baseball bat. Either the install guys were on pot or the system is no good. Plus, I am finding that the 2 way remote I wanted so much isnt really that helpful. I mean, what are you going to do if it goes off? Run out of work and get your head shot off as the theif is breaking in? I am slowly realizing my mistake and wanted to pass the info on to the community. My advice, spend $300 and get the DEI. Get the trunk pop, get the full alarm, and let the siren do the work. Save $100 and having to be woken up at 3:00am because a bird shit on your A-pillar. Geezzz, wish I could sell my DEI 2-way for $600!!!! I only get $350 wolfcom 03-02-2005, 09:23 PM There is nothing wrong with you alarm. Shaking a car does not activate a shock sensor. It's a "Shock" Sensor so it will detect only sharp impacts to your vehicle. For it not to go off when you shake it or push on it shows its working perfectly. If it's going off when a car passes by simply means that its set too sensitive. As for you alarm going off when you wash you car... It will happen when it rains too. No! there is no water detector built-in nor is your alarm faulty. it just means that the rubber seals on your door is worn out allowing water to seep in to the door switch or you have a bad a corroded door switch. Fix thoses problems and it'll be fine. if you install a dei alarm, you'll have the same problems.
