Q: is there a latch to get the sunroof openspy54 12-19-2001, 08:55 PM anyone know how to open the sunroof on an '89 crx si Moppie 12-19-2001, 09:01 PM Have you tried pushing the button? :D What sort of sunroof is it? An electric one that slide all the way back over the roof, or a simple little one that just pops open at the back? The Fully opening one should have a switch by the base of the steering colum, the other one will have a latch at the back of the roof. spy54 12-19-2001, 09:38 PM i got the fully opening one and it aint going so my dad wants to look at it then i will run it down to the honda dealership jeef 12-19-2001, 10:06 PM is the motor trying to go, or is it not working? if it does try to move the moonroof it may just be off the tracks, if not then it could be a number of things, like a bad connection/fuse, blown motor ect. i'm not too sure how to open it manually, never really tried spy54 12-19-2001, 10:20 PM eh ill figure something else, all else fails ill just take it to the honda dealership, it goes half way but wont go the full way spy54 12-20-2001, 12:47 AM alright i realised something recently, this is my car and i dont want someone else to fix it so could someone help me figure out whats wrong with it, it lefts to the halfway point but i think it has come off its track anyone know how to get it back on track? 90civicrider 12-20-2001, 01:15 AM there might be gravel or rocks on the track.. did you check that? but if the window rolls back straight, it shouldent be off the track. spy54 12-20-2001, 01:26 AM well it goes up and down but it doesn't move backward or forward Trinity 12-20-2001, 08:31 AM omg here i will answer your question. there is a little button looking thing near the light on the roof. it has a slit in it for like a flat head screw driver. pop that off and when you look inside of it there is how you roll it back. you shoul dhave a key in your car that is metal and looks like an allen wrench if not you can buy them at stores. but anywayz you put the thing in there and twist to the left and it manually moves back. ok if it is off the track you need to actually make the sunroof go back. then after that you will see a couple screws and such that actually hold the thing down. undo them all after that the thing will slide right forward and off. then just slide it back on and you are straight.it hould go right on the rails. if not let me know i just took a whole sunroof off so i pretty much know what you have to do sastanley 12-20-2001, 02:27 PM yeah...what trinity said...there should be a manual cranker thingie in the roof...the tool usually is left sitting in the back of the glove box, unless some uninformed peep says "WTF is this ??" and pitches it. But if it isn't you can probably find something that will work in a store. spy54 12-20-2001, 07:27 PM alright so this is what i got , it mechanically will go closed and i can crank it open but i can't use the button to open it, i will clean it and see if that helps but i can't seam to see anything wrong spy54 12-21-2001, 01:20 AM ah it just wotn go up ah!!! Trinity 12-21-2001, 08:47 AM Originally posted by spy54 alright so this is what i got , it mechanically will go closed and i can crank it open but i can't use the button to open it, i will clean it and see if that helps but i can't seam to see anything wrong are you sure the motor isn't fried? spy54 12-21-2001, 01:55 PM but then why would it go one way? Trinity 12-21-2001, 06:47 PM ok then there is something in the track.s omething is wrong with it. spy54 12-21-2001, 07:50 PM lol sounds like a plan, i am gonna ask my parents for christmas to get all the dings on my car fixes hehe KAOTIK 12-22-2001, 05:11 PM  Could be one of 2 things. My '90 CRX had the same problem. Either the secondary control on the switch that allows it to slide back after the 1st control lifts it up needs to be cleaned, or the track fell off from the front. My '90 had that problem. There is a stop on the track that could be broken, not allowing the roof to close after it already opens all the way. The stop on the track is designed to extend the track all the way out when the sunroof opens all the way, and then hold as it closes. If that stop breaks off, that part in the track falls out. The only way to get it to close is lift gently the roof and stick a finger under there to pop that part back into the track it fell out of. You'll have to drop the sunroof out of the car and take it apart and fix that stop. You can get one at the Honda Dealer, and it held on by a screw. It's plastic, so it could break easily if not attached right. Been there, done that. :p Good luck!!!! KAOTIK 12-22-2001, 05:29 PM  spy54 12-22-2001, 06:44 PM wait i dont understand you kaotic its stuck closed but i can crank it open i think it might be the fuse KAOTIK 12-22-2001, 08:03 PM Ok, yeah, I see what you mean now, check the fuse, good idea. If it's the one that's supposed to be in there, it will be a 30 amp fuse. Very easy to check. Takes like 2 seconds. :) Good luck! spy54 12-24-2001, 08:46 PM alright it works when it wants to so ill see if the body shop can fix it when they fix some dents and maybe add a body kit spy54 12-25-2001, 12:10 AM alright so this is the status it goes half way up. it goes all the way back but at the end it starts to shake, this is new!! it will go all the way back every 4 times like clock work, the fuses are good how do i clean the switches? spy54 12-25-2001, 12:27 AM correction my dad just blew the fuse, what a smart help lol i love heckling him spy54 12-25-2001, 06:55 PM MUAHAHAHAHAAH ITS FIXED!!!!
