long story short, this is the second time some schmuck has popped the driver's side door lock, and rumaged in the car. honestly, is it really that easy for someone to break into an e46?? i know it's NYC but come on...

rather than pay $200 to have it repaired again, i was reading how some of you guys installed a blank cover on the driver's side (probably from a right-hand drive spec 3 series right?) and just removed the lock cylinder.

how can i go about getting the part (is it hard to get) and can i do it myself? how hard it it? thanks in advance guys for your help. much appreciated:)
