I could really use some help about now. Not getting a Spark from my '87 K-5 Blazer. Has a 350 in it. The whole problem started when I would start the vehicle cold. If I gave it a little gas, it would stall instantly. If I started it and did NOT touch the accelerator, it would idle for 5 to 10 seconds and then stall. Now the engine will not start at all and it is not getting a spark. I already changed the distributer cap, rotor, coil and control module. No luck there. Checked the wire from the Distributer into the fuse box and looks good. All the fuses in the main fuse box are A-OK. What next? I'm going crazy here! Thanks for your input!!!

What happens when U turn ign. key?
Does engine revolve, or is it dead? If revolving, here`s
a few suggestions..
First, check the colour of sparkplugs, if black and wet, U could have the same problem as i had. Gasoline had once filled the cylinder, went trough and mixed with the engine oil. Making the oil too thin. So when revolving the engine it brought up the mixed goo into the cylinders, shortcircuting the sparkplugs.
So start by checking oil level, if too high, drain and replace oil and filter.
If not...
Try putting a sparkplug directly in the wire, coming from the coil. Do U get a spark?
Now U know if there´s electricity in the system.
If not, the problem lies in, or before the coil.
New condensor? If not, replace with new.

Good Luck!

You've already replaced the components responsible for creating the spark. Now, let's do some basics. With the key on, check the large wire (battery wire) which plugs into the coil at the cap. Does it have 12 volts (bright light)? If not, check for a burned fusible link at the starter or on the firewall under the hood. If you have 12 volts, make sure the wire is plugged in/onto the coil lug tightly.

Crank the engine with the distributor cap removed so that you can observe the rotor. Does it rotate? If not, you've probably blown a timing chain.

If you have rotation of the rotor and you have 12 volts to the coil, you're probably looking at a pickup coil problem. You'll have to unplug it from the module and test it with a ohm meter. I believe the spec is 500-750 ohms, but I'm not sure.

Note: Make sure the ground strap is in the cap for the coil.
