The automatic sliding door on my moms van quit. It will only make a clicking noise back around the rear passenger side of the van. Does anyone know how these doors work or what I might check. It did work fine then started getting where it would not close and would try but then come open again. Now it don't even move...just clicks. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Has anyone disconnected the battery? My 2001 did this and the owners manual will show you how to reprogram the power sliding door. Hope this helps.

Your door would just click and not move? I will disconnect the battery and also look in the manual for instructions on resetting it. It is my moms van so I don't know a lot about it....yet :-)
Thanks,
Rob

Power Sliding Door (PSD) Re-Initialization
The rear side door actuator control modules monitor the power sliding door positions at all times. Whenever the battery positive voltage supply to a rear side door actuator control module has been removed or the on-board diagnostics have been activated, the power sliding door system(s) must be re-initialized. Re-initialize the right or left power sliding door systems using the following steps:

1. Turn the ON/OFF switch for the power sliding door system to be re-initialized to the OFF position.
2. Manually open the power sliding door completely.
3. Manually close and latch the power sliding door.
4. Turn the power sliding door ON/OFF switch to the ON position.
5. Open the power sliding door completely using the B-pillar or overhead console OPEN/CLOSE switch.
6. Close the power sliding door completely using the B-pillar or overhead console OPEN/CLOSE switch

Well, the advice from "Flatrater " didn't work. BUT, I did go to the manual. And Behold! There was the cure for my problem I've been putting up with for 2 years. My power side door not working. I could open and close it manually though. *whew* Here is what the manual says. It's on page 2-19, let's turn there together....
1. Check to be sure the power sliding door is unlocked and closed, all the way.
2. Turn the ignition off.
3. Enable the power sliding door override feature. (In other words, press the button/switch that disables the power sliding door from working when you want it to, back when it was working anyway. Mine was on the overhead button array )
4. Remove the "RADIO" fuse from the underhood fuse box. I think it's fuse number 29, the second one from the far left (red 10amp). Leave it out for 30 seconds.
5. Put it back, then wait 10 seconds.
6. Disable the power slider door override feature. Um, press the button/switch that allows the power door to work.
7. Push either of the power door buttons, to operate the door. It should be working now. Freaking FINALLY! Do it a bunch of times, to work out the kinks that have settled in after not working for a while, and get it opening and closing all the way. Also, just because you can't belive your eyes that it's finally working again. And the thieving dealer didn't just charge you $100 to "fix" it.

Hope this helped, Darin

I have this same problem. Unfortunately the fix above didn't work. :-(

Here is what is strange: the power sliding door works if I pull on the handle (either interior or exterior) but NOT with the buttons or remote. In other words, if pull on the exterior door it will slide the rest of the way open. HOWEVER, THE BUTTONS WORK TO CLOSE THE DOOR. It is weird. Any ideas?

I had a mechanic check mine and it was a bad wire under passenger side door floor panel... new wire and now fixed ....

My auto sliding door quit working couple months after I accidentally open the door with the switch on the console, then when it opened half way I hit the switch a few times then I heard some crunch sound like some plastic thing got crushed. I finally gave up open the door manually because the kids complain the door is too heavy to operate. I talked to the Pontiac dealer yesterday and they want to bring in, just to diagnostic the problem thay want over $100, and the service manager said it could run $200 to over $1000 depend on what they find out what wrong.
Then I found this forum and I thought I just give a try, follow the instruction from "Flatrater", not much hope because I thought my problem was more of mechanical than electrical.
It's a miracle, it's worked after I went through the reseting procedure.
I want to thank Flatrater and everyone that make this forum possible.
Thanks again.

In one of my four failures of the power sliding door, they dealer found a damaged wire as well. The other times, brackets fell off, it just wouldn't work (even though I reset to the manual), and oh ya - two seperate recalls. The second recall was a recall on the original recall. I hate this door and wish it could be converted to manual.
